Why so many Christmas cards in shops?

I’m curious why so many retailers are selling Christmas cards? They are a dying part of Christmas. The cost of postage has definitely the nail in the coffin. The problem is that RM’s cheapest stamp covers up to 100g. Some countries have a stamp that covers up to 35/40g. I have weighed my cards I have in and weigh 18g-33g. Could RM do a greeting card stamp?

Majority of my family and friends are no longer with us. I didn’t bother with my previous job as some colleagues never bothered to bring them home. As in piles in the locker room. I am not bothering with my current employer as I am in the office once a week now.

When my family were alive and lived two hours plus drive, we used to pass about ten on to one relative towards the end of November. So eventually they were passed on.

Gone were the days as a kid that my parents abd myself had about 200 cards. As senders were between family, school friends, colleagues of my parents and family friends. We would be lucky to get a quarter now

In Oxfam they are instructed from hq to put the xmas cards out now - the majority unrelated to Christianity or celebration

Cards cost pence to make, if they can sell a dozen they've probably covered their outlay.

So you have time if you are sending them abroad?

People buy them? It's how shops work.

I’ve not seen any. But I’m sure some people still buy them, I know my mother in law does.

I reckon in another 5 or so years, Christmas cards will be ancient history.
