Do you think your weight loss medication affects your antidepressants?

I take 10mg of citalopram alongside my HRT medication. I’ve done this for 8 years and it works well. Last year I was on the Munjaro jabs, lost loads of weight, put some back on and have just started on Wegovy pills. In recent weeks I’ve become irritable, short tempered and quite down. I was like this last year; as I was in a job I didn’t particularly like I assumed it was that and changed jobs earlier this year, which coincided with stopping the MJ jabs. It’s a similar job, in a similar setting but much nicer management and colleagues, and a little more responsibility. All’s been good except for the last few weeks and I’m starting to feel like I did in my old job. I’m wondering if it’s the weight loss medication. Anyone else had something similar?

No, completely the opposite, I feel fantastic on both - not the same AD as you though and on MJ so it could be the combination of pills you are on.

It might be worth discussing it with your prescriber.

Yes mounjaro stopped Paroxetine working, was increased twice still no change so switched to citalopram, this did nothing now on venlafaxine.

I take Citalopram 40mg and Wegovy. When I first started on Wegovy I definitely felt occasions where I was more down than I would have been. That side effect passed (as with all side effects).

I'm on 40mg of citalopram, wegovy and hrt, I had to increase my progesterone dose when I started wegovy to keep it all functioning properly. The weight loss has done wonders for me but my mental health has dipped recently and my doctor is reviewing my MH meds, I am under an immense amount of stress though which is what I had attributed it to. Maybe it is the combo.
