Has anyone with endo previously had an all clear ultrasound?

Hi,

Ive been having pelvic pain, spotting, extreme fatigue, pain during pooping at certain times in my cycle along with other symptoms and for this reason my GP referred me for an US. Haven’t received the official results yet but the lady who did the US said she can’t see anything worrying.

whilst I’m glad that there’s nothing to worry about it does make me wonder what’s causing my symptoms and if it could’ve been missed? Like I said haven’t had the official report yet but she said there was nothing to worry about

thanks

Yep nothing on scan apart from a very small cyst. Then had a laparoscopy which found I had extensive endometriosis and adenomyosis. Then back in for a total hysterectomy and bowel resection.
8 years later the same symptoms again, no endometriosis seen on ultrasound, had a laparoscopy and it was everywhere again ( from HRT).

Sorry the 2nd time the ultrasound was clear again but endo showed up on MRI. However when I had the 2nd surgery the MRI only showed endo on my left hand side but I actually had it worse on my right side.

I had an all clear ultrasound earlier this year. Wasn't happy, so had a repeat two months later where they found a small fibroid that had been missed.

Thank you.

Although I’ve never fainted I don’t actually throw up (as far as I can remember) do have nausea though to the point I’ll do a PG test most months as the nausea resembles being pregnant.

Hopefully the GP agrees to do a gyn referral although reading these comments I wouldn’t hold my breath especially as I’ve not passed out or anything

If the GP is dismissive, is there another one I. The surgery you can go to? I had 9 GP appointments about my symptoms before I finally happened to see one with an Interest in gynae who referred me to a specialist.

@LathkillDale I’m sorry your DD experienced that. Her symptoms sound very extreme and I’m glad she finally got help.

My symptoms aren’t as extreme as hers so I’m not sure if they’d refer me but these symptoms have been present for a while so I really just want to know now as I’ve had painful periods from when I first started. They’re not as bad since I had my DD via c section almost three years ago but the other symptoms are bad like the back pain, ovulation pain, fatigue, spotting etc

I have the period pain, vomiting from it and pain down my legs - also ovulation pain. It's mad how different experiences are with the NHS. i saw the doctor, explained and she immediately said you need an ultrasound and was about to refer me but I said I had Bupa so instead i have seen a gynacologist ( had a rummage round and said he couldn't feel a cyst)who thought it may be fibroids have had an ultrasound - chap said it all looked normal and I am back to see the consultant this week. It's "only" been this extreme since June but I am 54 so am irked this has started when I should be stopping having periods.

Others who have had this , were you in pain all the time or only around ovulation and periods? Mine is the latter and it seems mad that if there is something there it only wakes up occasionally. I did wonder if it was endo but does it just come on in your 50's? I have had bloods done as consultant said it can be something bowel related. He also said if it was fibroids that HRT can kind of feed them which was a quandry as I love my HRT.

@Whered this GP that referred me for the US isn’t dismissive but all the ones I’ve had before were. We’ve not yet received the official scan reports as I called the surgery on Friday to ask (the scan was done on Wednesday) but based on the fact that the person doing the scan said ‘there’s nothing to worry about’ I don’t know if the GP will suggest any further investigations as from what the lady at the scan said it seems as though nothing was picked up

I hope you were able to push through GP to continue the investigation, or refer you to gynae. You don't have to live with disruptive symptoms just because an ultrasound is clear.
