Recommendations for 3 nights in Krakow - Oct half term

We are booked to go. 2 adults and ds14 and dd10. Hoping to do the salt mines.

Does anyone have recommendations for great things to do and places to eat? We like museums, history, exploring etc... We won't be doing Auschwitz. I'm a vegetarian too, are any good pizza/pasta type places? TIA

We went recently for a couple of days with friends who had a 10 and 12 year old and we visited the salt mine - while it was certainly very impressive, the tour took a couple of hours and the kids started to lose interest. There are a lot of steps down and we felt the impact on our knees the next day!

We visited the castle and dragon and the Harry Potter cafe nearby, which the kids loved, we wandered around the centre and large square and markets and did the golf cart tour which took us to the Jewish district and also stopped off at some beautiful churches. We had the option of visiting the Schindler Factory, but didn’t have time.

There was a pierogi festival whilst we were there and it was great to try different types.

If there are any food stalls, try the smoked cheese with cranberries that is cooked over a flame, it is a local delicacy and delicious! There are also stands dotted about selling a type of circular bread that is a cross between a pretzel and a bagel, which is handy for a snack.

There are some amazing quirky museums like the art balloon museum and pinball museum that we didn’t have time to visit and the giant balloon and big wheel looked pretty cool.

Gossip cafe do a great breakfast! it’s not far from the main square. There’s a few branches of a coffee shop called Lajkonik who also have a good veggie sandwich selection as well as delicious pastries and cakes. Very reasonably priced.

the walking tours that meet at 10am by the church in the square are good.

we love wandering around the whole town. We did a golf buggie tour as my mum has poor mobility, but it wasn’t cheap!!

we had take away from pizza Maradona that was nice but there’s loads of pizza/pasta places.
