We are having Italian wedding soup with baguette and butter followed by bought chocolate mousse and raspberries.

I love summer, but am feeling happy at the thought of the months of pure comfort food ahead.

Me too! I've got a few butternut squashes in and want to make some soup when I get round to it!

Tonight we're having spaghetti carbonara. Not very exciting but that's all we have left in the fridge as need to go shopping!

Malasana · 17/09/2026 12:13

Shepherds pie with loads of different steamed vegetables on the side.

Today we are having one of my favourite, and very easy, meals. Corned beef, salad and baked potatoes.

Tomorrow we're having pasta with a home made tomato sauce - trying to use up some of our tomato glut. It will have lots of garlic, some bacon and gooey mozzarella in it too.

Courgette parmigiana

mindutopia · 19/09/2026 09:05

Pork chilli verde made from pork from our home raised pigs and I have a load of green tomatoes that have never ripened over summer so I’m going to roast those instead of using tinned tomatillos (which I normally have to order from Amazon at like £5 a tin! 🙈).

It's just a broth based soup with pasta and spinach (or other greens) and pork meatballs. Very nice.

Tonight I am making a red lentil dhal with coconut milk and I am going heavy on the ginger, garlic and making up a fresh coriander paste which I will include as well.

Tonight is the last of a big soup I made the other day with pumpkin, carrot, tomatoes, celery and barley. I'm putting some macaroni in to make it more dinner-ish.

MookieBananas · 21/09/2026 11:33

I’m not working today so it’s a three course dinner. Grilled calamari with a tomato and cucumber salad; pan fried cod with a butter and lemon sauce with courgettes and herbed rice, and meringue nests with strawberries and vanilla ice cream. Pretty simple tbh and the fish has all come out of Aldi’s freezer.

That soup sounds amazing!

Here it will be chicken breasts with broccoli and cauliflower cheese, turnip, roasties, stuffing and gravy for dinner.

JudgeJ · 21/09/2026 13:30

I took some chilli out of the freezer yesterday and some pork, cider, apple with plenty of sage, probably have the pork tonight with mash, brocolli and mini corn cob. The chilli will keep in the fridge for a couple of days.

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 21/09/2026 13:32

Veg curry and brown rice today.

Pallisers · 21/09/2026 13:33

chicken schawarma with cucumber and tomato salad (last of the toms and cucumbers from the garden), yogurt sauce, potatoes from the garden, and olives.

I'm also looking forward to autumn dinners.

Oh that sounds lovely. I’m so pleased that the season is lending itself to lovely comforting meals.

aldi didn’t have calamari today ( I’m sure they have in the past!) so instead I am going to have a Marie Rose prawn starter in gem lettuce cups.

Chicken pad thai is todays dinner and dare I say also tomorrows lunch.

MookieBananas · 22/09/2026 12:28

We ended up going out last night. The fish will last another day in the fridge so I am making prawns and marie rose sauce and lettuce cups, then roasted chicken thighs with vegetables and berries for pudding.

I'm going to have a fair bit of chicken left so chicken pad thai sounds like a plan for the rest of the week!

Sweetcorn and smoked bacon chowder ( taming twins super easy and delicious recipe) crusty bread and butter. Maybe fruit fool for pud.

Mydogisagentleman · 22/09/2026 12:41

Beef stew that's more like soup fuel to forgetting to turn it off last night, dumplings all crispy. Buttery mash, cauliflower cheese and greens

Mydogisagentleman · 22/09/2026 12:42

Soup due to, unable to edit

sherbetlemonade · 22/09/2026 12:44

Sausages, chips & baked beans tonight.

Giggorata · 22/09/2026 13:04

I had to google Italian Wedding Soup and it sounds marvellous!

We are currently eating through Bag 1 in the freezer (I operate a bag and date system), so it looks like tuna pasta bake and I shall do some fresh vegetables to have with it and I think I have some frozen leftover cheese sauce to pour over.
I have a huge pot of home made Greek yogurt and some syrup left over from blackberry and apple crumble, so that will be pudding.

fabulous!

I mean - I could have said that they were organic free-range sausages made from the finest local venison and lovingly handcrafted by my local village butcher, heritage potatoes dug from my garden by my own fair hand, sliced with a mandolin, then seasoned with a selection of the finest herbs, and tender haricot beans harvested from my own allotment last year, dried, then rehydrated in elderflower wine, and simmered gently in a jus made from homegrown baby plum tomatoes and local clover honey.

But I would have been lying. 😂
