New Omaze Yorkshire house

What do Omazers think of the new Yorkshire house?

I love it, and would definitely keep it if/when I won it 😀

I've just opened the email and had a quick look, so will be back later when I've got a break and have had a chance to look closer. It looks gorgeous though.

It's Moat Hall Little Ouseburn, York, YO26 9SH

Rightmove listing here

I love it, but I don't want to live in Yorkshire - too far from my connections.

Tortephant · 17/09/2026 10:59

It is just down the road from one of the proposed MOD asylum sites, and has significant work down without listed building consent. It’s beautiful but a massive liability one.

Quite often the houses featured have problems. They are often sold on quickly. It would cost a lot to keep the place running. I saw an article it took a year for one of the winners before the owner could move in. If I won I would sell it on and buy a house with a swimming pool.

Ooohaaahjustalittlebit · 17/09/2026 14:39

I love it, but it's not in a particularly pretty bit of Yorkshire.

Ooohaaahjustalittlebit · 17/09/2026 14:40

Have you seen the drama on the Facebook comments for omaze too?
It seems they have quietly changed their terms but not publicised them. So you only get the £250k in instalments and only get the full amount if you continue to own the property for 4 years

That's a bit sneaky of them.

I am reconsidering my subscription. The prize is a lot better with the full cash prize at once, as interest would make it last a lot longer, and I really dislike the way you have to have publicity, including your name and photo. I'd also like to see more areas included. Cornwall, the Lake district, the Cotswolds and London are all lovely in their own ways, but I'd like to see a wider range of counties included. Have they ever had a Northumberland house, for instance?

The house is gorgeous though, and if I sold mine the cash prize would last longer. I have family not too far from there who could probably move in if they wanted to, and work from home most of the time. I'll stay for this one, and see where the next one is.

I wish they’d do more areas too - Cornwall houses are becoming just boring to see now as they are so predictable. Northumberland would be great!

No. Every Omaze house gets discussed here as it's announced. Including local knowledge and info gleaned from the internet about where it is, the pros and cons and what people reckon it's really worth.

It really isn't ! We always have a thread to pick over the prizes.

Has anyone found the old Rightmove entry yet? I love comparing!!

How did you find out the thing about it not having listed building consent for the works? That's pretty horrifying!

Yes I would love to see Northumberland/Kent/Dorset

Excuse me? I have started several Omaze threads as I subscribe and enjoy discussing the houses. Yours is a rude post, and entirely inaccurate.

From looking at the pictures alone, it's the first Omaze house that I genuinely like the look of! (I like traditional housing stock, without huge glass walls that would get full of fingerprints, pawprints and dog snot marks within five minutes).

I don't know the area (it's not a bit of Yorkshire that I'm familiar with), but if it's near a proposed MOD asylum site, I would not want to live there. I would like the grand piano, though!

ShyMaryEllen · 17/09/2026 21:35

It doesn’t seem to be ’near’ anything though. You’d have lots of space (indoors and out) away from any neighbours from the look of it.

I don’t know the area either, and can’t find it on Google Maps. Does anyone know whether it’s part of the village or set on its own?

It’s at the edge of little ouseburn, with great ouseburn a 5 minute walk away, which had a village school, shop and pub when we lived there. Gorgeous countryside but flat (vale of York), 10 mins by car to boroughbridge with more facilities and about 30 mins from Harrogate and York. I think it’s a great area :)

ShyMaryEllen · 18/09/2026 00:53

Thanks. You can come for coffee when I win it😀.

It looks so much nicer in the Right Move link than since Omaze got their hands on it. They need new interior designers.
