Family photos in 1980’s

My 38 dd (teacher)has asked me for a photo of her as a baby, toddler and child for some activity they’re doing at school.
I’ve just been looking through my albums and the photos are awful! The baby and toddler ones especially are blurred, foggy, dark, lots and lots with heads half cut off. I thought I had a decent camera then but obviously not.

Anyone else have hundreds of photos which are absolutely useless. I’d forgotten how awful they were.

Today we’re so lucky to have camera phones that we can take photos discard, alter etc.

We had a running joke in our family about my dad's inability to take a picture with everyone's head intact 😂
I do have some wonderful old pictures, though.

Isn't that down to whoever took the photos?

My DS was born in the 1980s and we took loads of photos from birth until he left primary school. Great photos and none of them as poor as you describe. But although we have a lot of photo albums I very rarely actually look at them. Tbh our lives changed when my DH died suddenly when our DS was 18 and I find looking back at the photos so tinged with sadness I just dont want to see them. I have memories stored in my head and thats enough.

@Releasemepleasesorry to hear about your husband.
I’m sure it was down to me!

You had to be an ok photographer with a decent camera! My dad was, so we do have good 80s photos but we don't have loads to chose from because getting film developed was expensive!

I was born in '74, and i love seeing old photos of me as a kid. That brown and orange swirly carpet was a thing of beauty 😂

My dad did the opposite of chopping heads off. In our family photos, we are all squashed at the bottom of the pic with miles and miles and miles of sky above us!

I think it's one way in which technology isn't better.
I have photos of my family from the 1880s onwards. Admittedly the old ones are very posed but it's a fascinating part of family history.
I have some from when I was a teenager in the 1970s, holidays with DH from 1979 onwards. My children were born in 96 and 98 so just pre digital and those albums of birthdays and holidays are so much nicer than a screen.
Sure they aren't all perfect but some are.
