Has anyone had head pains like this?

It started a couple of months ago - the most intense pain in my head, like a contraction, that only lasts for a few seconds. It is brought on by sudden movement (coughing, standing up quickly, exercise, leaning over). It’s gone on for a couple of months, and at first came and went (so I didn’t see doctor straight away) but now it’s frequent. One hand has been tingling slightly. The pain has also woken me up a few times.

I have been to the GP and They’ve referred me for a 2 week urgent MRI. Which I’m grateful for but in the meantime I’m spiralling a bit! I hadn’t been overly concerned and avoided dr Google, but now I’ve seen these symptoms could be a tumour and I’m panicking. I have young kids.

Has anyone had these symptoms and it turned out to be ok?

Try to remember it’s unlikely that it’s a tumour, there are lots of things it may be like migraines, I get fibromyalgia and I get pains in the back of my head which I thought was a bloody stroke!! Turns out it was fibromyalgia. Good to get a quick MRI because at least it’s rapid and they can either see what it is, or rule things out. Good luck

Thank you. I know rationally that it is more likely to be lots of other things, not a tumour, but tbh it was the doctor taking me seriously that worried me! I’ve been fobbed off so many times over other issues, that I was taken by surprise when he didn’t tell me to go home and take a paracetamol.

They call them ice pick headaches I think. As I understand it they're usually benign, but good that they are being investigated. I think there are medications that can help.
