Best way to clean dog poo from trainer soles?

ForeverDelayedEpiphany · 16/09/2026 08:18

Please tell me the best way to clean dog poo from the sole of my lovely Adidas Spezials...😢😫

I'm thinking about using some hot water and washing up liquid with a toothbrush to get into the grooves, then maybe dunking it after in water with disinfectant. Obviously I know I need to be careful using bleach etc on thd rubber.

Argh! I hate these things and my OCD type anxiety of germs is raising its ugly head 😒 🤣

Any advice welcome please!

I think it would just bin them to be honest.

Has no one mentioned digging it out of the tread with a teaspoon handle yet? 🤣🙈

cupfinalchaos · 17/09/2026 20:49

I must be honest I’d write them off if it was bad.

Sorry, all I can think of when I read this is Barbara Royle stood over her kitchen sink with a pooey trainer in one hand and a knife ready to scrape it out in the other . And Mary saying ‘muck for luck’ 🙈🙈
Maybe don’t do that!

A Boot Buddy works really well, my little one is a full time wheelchair user and if we get dog poo on his wheels we can't just throw his wheels away so have to deal with this more often than I would like. I keep a Boot Buddy under his chair with water and disinfectant in it so when I load him back into our van his wheels are clean and the van doesn't reek.

We have a brush kept for this purpose. Have 2 dogs so it’s inevitable at some point. Just scrub bio laundry gel is effective and smells nice

Or use your own toothbrush and just bang it in the dishwasher with your loo brush when you’re done

😳

MyDuvetDay · 17/09/2026 23:23

i would just spray the bottoms with the outdoor hose and leave them to dry.

are they suede?

Don't do it in the sink 🤢
Don't use a nail brush you plan on using for you actual nails 🤢🤢

So gross.

Do it in/over bucket outside and use a scrubbing brush for outdoor jobs like this.

Was going to say the same. No way would I be putting shoes with dog poo on in a sink in the house! Using an outside tap if you have one is the best idea, with a bucket or bowl of hot soapy water.

NotMeNoNo · 18/09/2026 07:26

You need an old brush like a washing up brush, rubber gloves and some hot soapy water/disinfectant spray. and some kitchen roll. All these cost about £10 tops assuming you don't have them in the house. The ppl saying bin them Shock!

summater · 18/09/2026 07:29

I did mine outside with a bucket of soapy disinfectant water, brushing the soles with a suitable brush, then rinsing with fresh water, it all came off without getting the tops too wet

Washing machine or dishwasher on hottest setting.

personally if it’s dog 💩 I’d throw them out 🤮🤮🤮🤢🤢🤢

😱DISHWASHER??!!

That has to the grossest suggestion yet!😂

Yes, they're suede Adidas Spezials. All clean now after I used hot soapy water and an old toothbrush. I had to dunk the sole in a bit of water with disinfectant after too, but I am a bit OCD like that haha 😄

No way was I going to throw them in the bin - that's just madness!

@coldcalling many years ago on a thread someone wrote how their DH had put the loo brush in the dishwasher to clean it!

You can get bottles with brushes on the end. So fill with water and washing up liquid, squeeze to release water as you scrub the shit off (in the garden/somewhere outside!).

Bleach the brush bit to clean.

Boot buddy

get two!!
