How have you upset DC today?

DD9’s friend has just moved house. In her room she has a built in cupboard which is double wardrobe sized. It’s currently empty so they have been playing in it.

DD is now pissed off that she only has one room, not two. Apparently it’s unfair that DH and I have all the other rooms in the house and won’t let her have a second one.

She told me a joke and I laughed, which I shouldn't have done because apparently she didn't want me to laugh.

DD (aged 2) is devastated because I moved a piece of art she made by sticking Pom-Poms on some paper with glitter glue. One of the Pom-Poms fell off and now her entire artistic vision has been compromised and her genius will never be recognized (I think that’s what the screaming on the floor was about anyway, it was hard to tell through the snot and sobbing).

DS (aged 4) was very cross that I had to move his castle den so we could eat dinner. It consisted of a blanket, 4 of our dining chairs and half the table (along with several booby traps like the dog’s lead as a trip wire and a bucket as a ‘net’)
I also had the nerve to say that ‘Pirates love underpants’ is not my ‘best book ever’ (I don’t even know how we acquired it, but it’s my least favourite bedtime story and I struggle to hide my lack of enthusiasm)

Bought my 9 year old a raisin bread and put it in the fridge, she prefers it room temperature.

The custard cream biscuits were just standard ones, not the extra cream ones from M&S 🤨

This made me smile, we usually have the chocolate covered ones and when I offered my son a custard cream he looked at it confused and asked where the chocolate was. So disappointed to discover what an actual custard cream was!

I made her go to an evening about GCSEs that school had organised for Y10. This was “a waste of her time” apparently.

I pointed out that her Dad and I had to leave work early and her grandmother had to come and babysit her little sister so we were all giving up our time when we were not even the ones doing GCSEs.

Having got 6yo dd out of bed I refused to let her watch tv until he was ready for school. I need to stop bossing her around as it’s not fair and I should say ‘please’ and ‘thank you’. I am polite the first few times but when we’re on the fifth request to get dressed and the bus is coming in ten minutes I do tend to start being bossy.

She finally got dressed and asked again for the tv. Before it had come on I asked Alexa what the time was and realised we should have left already! The lass who had moaned just minutes earlier at the lack of tv now thought it was hilarious she hadn’t had time to watch anything. Kids, eh!?!?

This evening she realised I’d put a magazine into the bin. She hadn’t finished with it, apparently. Pulled it out and was cheered up with Mac and Cheese.

I am not working today so picked DS1 from school and drive him to the cinema so he could watch an afternoon showing of a film he has been wanting to watch. I annoyed him immensely by asking him to text me when he was on his way home again. Cue shouting at me for treating him like a child.

DS9 was very angry with me for getting his school uniform ready in the morning. He was gesticulating and glaring at me half asleep.
He did mention a sore throat yesterday… He wasn’t talking because of his throat apparently and was convinced he should stay home.
(He went to school and was fine… I’m expecting similar tomorrow though.)

I've done many things to annoy DD10 this week:

• won't buy her an iPad 13 Pro
• won't put Christmas decorations up
• won't cook her a Sunday dinner on a Tuesday night
• the cottage pie I made wasn't as nice as last week
• won't give a 30 full body bedtime massage
• won't let her get acrylic nails

😅 I really don't envy her future spouse

Wouldn’t let Dd3 kiss a caterpillar on the lips

Got screamed up and out of bed at 5am after multiple night wake ups from the baby, then offered the baby toast and fruit for breakfast along with a bum change and clean day clothes. Rage inducing for said baby.

Had the audacity to be last parent when arriving to pick up DD9 from afterschool club, ‘all the other kids have gone first AGAIN’ with dramatic sigh. Yeah sorry love but I don’t finish work until 5:00 and the school is 30 mins from my work plus the club is open til 5:45 PLUS we live too far for you to go home alone yet. Sorry for having to work to pay the mortgage and feed / clothe you.
Like I haven’t already got horrendous mum guilt for having kids then having to pay constant wraparound care to raise said kids so I can just pay the bills.
Came home from long (shitty) day at work and cooked a fully nutritious meal (chicken breasts, cheesy mash, honey and mustard creamy sauce with green beans and broccoli) to prevent them getting scurvy. It’s not McDonald’s so therefore is disgusting. (DD9, DS14)

I give up today 😔
