Since the weekend, I’ve left my car door open overnight, started brushing my teeth without toothpaste, left my card in the card reader and forgotten to but out the bins. I’m sure I’m not the only one….

I was trying to feed my baby in the middle of the night. I prepared his bottle but forgot to put the teat on. So instead of feeding him I poured milk on his head😂

Unsure if it was sleep or plain old stress but I had a period of a few months last year where I genuinely thought I may have been losing my mind.

I recall driving to work, entering the multi-story car park, driving up two levels, driving down two levels, back out the car park and 5 minutes into my journey home before I realised I hadn't parked and gone to work. I had to turn about and start again.

I had a multitude of such blank-minded moments, that began caused me real concern by the end. Thankfully, the stress abated and I am a bit more with it!

Left my keys in the outside of the front door multiple times. Poured my orange juice onto my cereal instead of into a glass. Put my toast down for a 2nd pop and forgot about it so it completely burned (this is a regular favourite of mine)

Took a scoop of cat biscuits out of the bag. Walked right past the cat bowl and poured them straight into the bin. The cat was horrified.

Was getting annoyed by building noise from next door. Was delighted to tell my husband when he came home from work that I'd managed to find a solution, I'd lit a scented candle to cover it up...

Put food in the washing machine instead of the fridge, washing in the dishwasher instead of the washing machine, rearranged the shelves at waitrose for ages after a nightshift at the hospital I worked at because I thought I still worked at waitrose even though I hadn't worked there for years, forgot to put the handbrake on and looked with interest at the car next to me moving past me without anyone driving it until I realised it was me moving..

I’ve lobbed a dirty nappy in the washing machine instead of the nappy bin once and it came out surprisingly intact and clean 😳 (Disposable)

Went into office. Tried to turn the light on and it did not work. Went into kitchen and boiled the kettle and turned on radio and then reported that there was a power cut in the building, there was a blown bulb.

I had 3 in 2 years so spent a lot of time sleep deprived but a ghostly low moment was getting thrush and reaching out in the middle of the night for some canestan, and instead slapping on teething gel. Bloody hells fire. Menthol muff.

I was co-sleeping with my baby because it was easier to breastfeed her. I’d just gone back to work, but she was still waking every two hours to feed, so I was basically functioning on fumes.

One night I awoke with a start at her crying, grabbed the small dog also present in bed, and proceeded to try and breastfeed said dog.

What was particularly impressive was that I could STILL hear the baby crying, but rather than this giving me any clue whatsoever, I just lay there holding an increasingly confused dog, wondering where on earth the crying was coming from.

At some point the dog escaped with a yelp and ran out of the room.

It was only then that I realised I had not, in fact, been holding the baby that entire time.

The actual baby was still in bed, absolutely furious about the service.

I was coming home from work. I got on the wrong train as i was convinced that i lived somewhere else. I once looked for the toilet in my wardrobe.

WarmHare · 15/09/2026 20:05

Many a morning after being up all night with the baby I’ve put dry shampoo under my armpits & deodorant in my hair.

Pre contactless pay i’d often shove a library card or my work ID into a card machine.

And I’ve definitely (more than once) put the washing basket in the boot of the car.

I did try to scan my work entry door card to open my house door once! 🪪

I have made multiple attempts to drive the car without switching on the engine.

I have driven past my house because I was on such autopilot driving the car that I failed to notice I had arrived.

Put the gravy granules in the fridge, and cheese in the cupboard.

Pumped loads of breast milk and then poured it straight down the sink. That one really hurt.
