Precisely the news that I don’t read and all the more happier for it

AdeleRochester · 14/09/2026 17:55

That poor, poor woman.

The Pelicot case was so shocking and it is seriously disturbing to understand over the time since that it wasn’t a one off and in fact there might be international networks supporting this kind of crime.

jammibats · 14/09/2026 17:58

How many is that now and how many more? Absolutely horrific and terrifying for any woman out there.

PineConesAndBerries · 14/09/2026 18:01

Awful. How do they get their hands on drugs that knock people out to that extent?

The Pelicot case in France
Another French case - Jean-Pierre Marechal
Philip Young - UK
Unnamed Manchester man - UK case ongoing
Unnamed Austrian man - case ongoing.
There's also the Darren Conway case which is slightly different but equally abhorrent. Another 8 men have apparently been arrested in relation.

And of course each of these cases involves multiple perpetrators.

It’s unspeakable.

Gcn · 14/09/2026 18:10

Absolutely horrific. Good to see the other accused men named. You just can't begin to understand how that woman must be feeling.

alexdgr8 · 14/09/2026 18:12

Yes but they are accused.
The other men.
The case against them is ongoing.
So we must be careful not to assume anything concerning them. Legally.

Meadowfinch · 14/09/2026 18:13

Your words are spot on OP.

What the fuck is wrong with these men?

They are worse than animals, and should never be freed. They pose an unlimited risk to women.

I am in awe of the bravery of this lady, as I am of Mme Pelicot.

alexdgr8 · 14/09/2026 18:18

But more generally.

It seems this kind of thing is a long established activity for some men.
A kind of sport like gaming where they compete and boast and encourage each other in their exploits.
Like people who deal in and distribute and make images of csa.
There are networks that are vast and active that most of us have never heard of.
But need to be alert to the possibility.

What I mean is that I think it is much more widespread than we could imagine.

Ihateboris · 14/09/2026 18:22

Christ, you'd have thought the Pelicot case would have been an outlier. I know not all men are like this before the pile on, but I thank the lucky stars I'm single, and happy to stay that way forever.

SmallDFartyCarNRG · 14/09/2026 18:32

Men are so fucked up. Imagine doing this to someone you said you loved and probably had kids with?

I am also glad they are naming the other perps - highly unlikely they know who they are without video evidence, let alone being allowed to publish their names. These men should be put on the sex offenders list and never allowed to change their names so that Claire's Law actually stand a chance of working. Why sex offenders and violent criminals can change names is beyond me. Should be a privilege lost as soon as you do a violent crime.

20 years he has been doing this! I bet it went on longer but he probably didn't have the tech to record it as easily.

SmallDFartyCarNRG · 14/09/2026 18:35

In France they have been trialling drug tests for people who think they may have been drugged in the last month, to be available via their GP. They have had thousands of women take up the chance to find out, so I suspect many women are worried and just fear repercussions of suggesting something is happening if they have to go via Police.

I think that drug should be made available everywhere. What a horrible world we're living in.

Ihateboris · 14/09/2026 18:48

And not one case of a woman doing this to a man. Men are fucking animals. In fact, scrap that, animals wouldn't act so vile. Men are disgusting pervs. Maybe not all men, but too many, and it's getting worse

And the Swiss ex politician who is alleged to have drugged and raped a mother and her daughter (14 at the time) and filmed them.
I started a thread on this utterly appalling case but nobody seemed interested. 😢

Because they deserve a chance at life ? Because in the UK we put perpertrators human rights above those of victims ?

If they commit violence and are convicted they should not be allowed to change names and hide so that the police have no record of them. Preventing crime by knowing the likely offenders is key to policing.

alexdgr8 · 14/09/2026 19:35

The other named men have Not been convicted.
Those proceedings are continuing.
Therefore we cannot say they are perpetrators.
We have to be careful how we comment on all this.
Writing on here is viewed as publishing for the purposes of the strict liability rule. See section 1and 2 of the Contempt of Court Act1981

Ohdfod · 14/09/2026 19:42

It is abhorrent. And it is not all men, but it is always men. I cannot imagine there are a plethora of women drugging and raping their husbands and inviting other women round to do it as well? Vile.

PineConesAndBerries · 14/09/2026 19:45

I wonder what proportion of men would do this if they knew they could get away with it

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 14/09/2026 20:27

Ihateboris · 14/09/2026 18:24

Not for the faint hearted:

Exposing a global ‘online rape academy’ that is teaching men how to abuse women and evade detection https://share.google/NSO2zIn8O0GOuOXR3

Thanks for sharing this, but I couldn’t read it all…it made me feel sick. I will share with DH as he just doesn’t get why I’m so angry.

i absolutely despair. I know NAMALT but too many men are like that.

An extremely high proportion, in my opinion.

One of the co- accused is a paramedic . Terrifying.
