Passport renewal

Hi all,

Has anyone applied recently? Standard renewal. Documents recieved on the 7th and no update since. Facebook group - documents recieved on the same day and people have recieved their passports. One even took 5 days standard. How does this work?

You should be receiving text message updates on the progress of your application. Eg to let you know it’s been printed. If you aren’t then call them and ask what’s happening with it

I sent mine back in June and received a new one within 10 days, had texts all the way along - they had received my application, they’d received my old passport, they’d printed my new passport etc etc, have you had a text? How did you apply, I did mine online and I have to say I’d put it off for months and was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was (and then had to cancel my holiday in August because an operation date became available and I was desperate 😭😂).

My partner and I both renewed ours a couple of months ago. Really impressed with the online service actually. Texts keeping us informed about where they were in the process, when posted back, etc.

I seem to recall that we waited a bit before we got notification of being received. Then there was a small wait and then th e"processing" and "complete" notifications happened almost simultaneously. All in, the process took about 2 weeks from when I sent them off. So I'd say that if they were received on 7th, you'd expect an update soon, but I wouldn't be worrying for at least another few days.

Also, I have no idea when busy times are but it wouldn't surprise me if lots of people come back from summer holidays and think, "better get on this now before christmas" and ditto, if they've had people out of the office over the summer so a bit of a backlog to get through.

Mine was received 28th, new one approved 7th, printed 8th and arrived a couple of days later.
I was impressed.

I signed up for notifications - text and email. Just nothing since the 7th when they recieved my old passport. Just seeing others recieve theirs (application / documents same date) making me panic.

I just double hecked. from notification re them receiving passport ot next notification was one week. then I got a notification saying it was dispatched (later the same day) and then it arrived 2 days later.

Just checked mine they received it on the 24th July and approved it on the 3rd August. It then got printed and was here a couple of days later.

Approved + Printed 7 Sep
Delivered 9 Sep

Very impressed, considering there was the August Bank Holiday in the middle of it.
I'm sure it would have been a couple of days earlier if a normal week.

I hope so. Thank you for the replies. I wasn’t stressing but after reading many who have got theirs on the same timeline is stressing me out :/

My old one got to them on 18th August, new one approved and dispatched 25th received 27th.
