Positive influence of a teacher

Something has happened to my DS. He has been doing his homework straight away without being asked…and asked and asked and asked. It’s always done, but it’s mostly miserable getting there.

I joked with him about what he’s done with [his name] and told him I’m really proud of him. He said the work is a bit more difficult, so he wants to do it, he can see the point. He said this teacher is the most “efficient” teacher he’s had and that she lets those who understand get on with it, rather than waiting until everybody understands it. It’s only been a week and a half, but he’s thriving! I want to hug this teacher. She’s made him feel there’s no limit. I don’t want to count my chickens too early, but I feel optimistic! He’s year six.

Sadly, we’ve had the reverse where a (different) teacher has crushed people in the class. Teachers can have a huge impact on children.

Has anybody else seen a big change in their DC already?
