Immigration

As a female born and bred in the UK of South Asian heritage, i am increasingly concerned about the anti immigration rhetoric which is being spewed at every angle. Is anti immigration so strong that white British people want the likes of me to leave the UK. My grandparents were from India and were economic migrants in 1954! They arrived in London with 1 suitcase and worked in manual jobs, paying taxes and died here. India had not long gained independence from the UK back then.. I am worried for my safety and the safety of my child who is of 4th generation British.. He is as British as it comes, only speaks English, is terrible at languages, loves British food, plays and watches footy etc etc.. I am scared he will get beaten up due to the colour of his skin!

The fact you feel this, for which I feel sad about, is the direct result of successive governments failure to control immigration. Its not the fault of the British people which includes you. We've been put in this position and now everyone suffers. Predictably. And its awful.

But everyones suffering is not equal! I am actually upset and outraged that we could be attacked because we are the "wrong" shade!

But you can’t blame the government for casual racism. It’s up to each person to not be a dick to other people because of the colour of their skin, the way they talk or the god they worship

Yes. It's a terrible situation. Most people think so. But thats the fault of successive governments. Their actions have led to people such as your family feeling this way. Its awful.

People don't live in a vacuum. Its an entirely predictable outcome if millions of people come into the country in a short period of time and dont assimilate. The government did this. It destabilises the existing population. And the feelings of the OP is the result and its terrible. Its not the fault of the british people. And the solution is not to accuse 60% of them of being racist as 60% of us are concerned about immigration.

If the OP means direct racism to her by an individual then that is bad obviously. Its not right. But its predictable given government actions. And its probably going to get worse.

Actions such as what’s happening in Piddington don’t help.
