Good morning all! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in my conservatory spot, completely alone as the cats are upstairs with the girls while dd1 gets ready to work the last day of Leger week. I'm up later than usual thanks to being woken up at several points through the early hours by people being LOUD 💤 .

I was planning to put the last of the weed membrane on the garden, since I didn't get round to it yesterday, and retire my tomato plants. It's just started raining though so I'll give it a couple of hours & continue assembling crochet letters instead. If it clears up I'll pop a wash on & get out for a while.

Dd2's going to bring me the trousers she needs taken up, so I can measure them, and tidy her things in their room. It's a bit of a pigsty so hopefully that helps!

We're having roast pork for tea I think, unless I come up with something else to do with the joint that fussy dd2 will also eat & dd1 can reheat in the air fryer 🤔. If the rain continues, I'll wash while we eat & hang it to dry afterwards.

After that, full tidy in the kitchen & floor mopped, followed by showers and an hour or two with our books again before I head to bed ready for work tomorrow. Hopefully a calmer week since Ofsted paid us a visit already!

What about all of you? 🙂

Morning one and all.
Hope the Ofsted visit went ok @lucysmam

I had a very lazy day yesterday so today will be catching up with various tasks.
Got to go out for a run shortly as I took a couple of weeks off having injured myself, and the half marathon is in four weeks time. I am worried!
I was hoping to mow the grass i should have done it yesterday but spent the whole day in bed watching the gentlemen but its rained overnight and more rain later so i think that will have to wait.
I need to sort through the freezers and probably chop up more apples before they rot on the ground, I might make a couple of apple crumbles too. A work colleague gave me some chillies earlier this week so I'll make some chilli jam too.
Steak bagel for dinner i think before DC arrive back from their dads.

I got free tickets to see Fun Lovin' Criminals last night which was ace, although we hadn't realised that Huey no longer sings with them but it was still good fun! Think I will add a few songs to my playlist before I go this morning. Tea first!

pinneddownbytabbies · 13/09/2026 09:50

Good morning! Just about to have my second coffee. I had hoped to do some gardening, but it has rained quite a lot overnight and is rather wet underfoot so I might give that a swerve. We have a relative coming to stay in a couple of weeks' time and the spare bedroom is currently a dumping ground so something has to be done about that.

I'll be going out shortly to buy the wherewithal for Sunday dinner, which we usually have early evening. Probably chicken today, and I'm going to make some mushroom stuffing for it too. Adult dc coming over to help us eat it.

DH has been away since Friday, and will be back home early this afternoon, to disturb my peace and tell me all about the football match he went to watch (they won thankfully). The cats will be pleased he's back as he gives them far more treats than I do!

lucysmam · 13/09/2026 09:54

@FamingolosForDays it did! I recall last time being very very stressful, this time seemed more chill.

Good morning lucysmam and others. I have had 2 coffees, a slice of toast and a cup of tea. Towels have been washed and are now drying in the tumble dryer. The dishwasher is on. My 2 grandsons are here, having had a sleepover. I'm ready for them to go home now. Dgs1 is easy but dgs2 is hard work. There are big emotions around everything, breakfast, getting dressed, brushing his teeth etc. Once dd picks them up, I will collapse on the couch. Steak casserole(hopefully) for dinner. Enjoy your day

Giggorata · 13/09/2026 10:02

Good morning lucysmam and all.
I remember the Ofsted panics at work.. hope yours went OK and you can now have a good rest and recover.

I have got the washing and whatnot done after my last festival and I am packing away the camping and van stuff today, which is the end of summer. 🙁
DH was going to do his last mow on the land today but it is too wet.

I have lots of other minor pottering and tidying to do today and later a friend is coming round to borrow my dryer for his glut of tomatoes and courgettes.

We have steak for dinner and no plans for the evening, other than finishing my book.

Bringyourfoldingchair · 13/09/2026 10:13

Good morning all! I’m just having a break from tidying up. DS had his friend to stay over so there’s bedsheets etc to be sorted. Going to get the kiddies some breakfast and iron the uniforms for tomorrow soon. That an easy day is in store today. Might get the boys to pick the apples and I’ll make a crumble at some point. The oven really needs a good cleaning out too. The joys! Think it’s gammon steaks, sausages, roasties and veg for dinner today. DH suggested we light out wood fired hot tub for later, might do that and have a glass of wine. I’m not sure what’s going on but don’t really feel myself atm. Like I’ve lost my mojo. Hopefully get a nice walk in at some point today too.
have a lovely Sunday everyone.

chickenfordinner · 13/09/2026 10:13

Morning all, I always find you every week and read but haven’t posted for a while… we got a puppy 10 weeks ago and life has felt a bit (sometimes a lot!) more hectic and it wasn’t so calm before 🤣
she is a lovely little dog though and settling in well so today is taking her out somewhere new to explore then if I have energy left (am recovering from some sort of virus and energy levels def low) DD and I may pop to dunelm for a mooch - fancy a few new bits for the house maybe
beef stew for dinner but it’s from the freezer so just need to do mash and veg. Been waiting for it to be cool enough!

have a lovely day everyone x

Tiddlywinks63 · 13/09/2026 10:25

Good morning everyone, it’s drizzling here and so I’m having a coffee and watching the goldfinches on the Niger seed feeder. There’s at least 15 of them, such pretty little birds.
I was pleased with my efforts yesterday in the garden, there’s a tray of green tomatoes in the kitchen window that I hope will ripen, there’s plants are chopped up and in the compost bin and I think I’ll scrap the runner beans next. They’ve been very disappointing this year despite doing everything correctly.
I have tidied the kitchen, destoned a bowl of damsons and we’ll have them stewed with custard for pudding I think. I’ve chucked in some blueberries to use them up.
Not a lot happening really, I hope today goes well for you all x

DilemmaDelilah · 13/09/2026 10:35

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone.

I have been awake and had my breakfast, but was tired so went back to sleep and have only just woken up.

I did go through my fabric stash yesterday and took out loads of bits which I will put onto Vinted. While Mr Dilemma was out I also managed to sort out all the bits I need to make his Christmas stocking and they are hidden away in a bag so that I can work on it while he is out.

Before I went back to sleep I sorted out a load of laundry which Mr Dilemma has put on. It will probably be finished now so I will deal with that later.

We will be going to the cathedral this afternoon for evensong and to see my chorister grandson's investiture as senior chorister, and then we will be going to pick up a nice wooden bookcase which was being given away on Facebook after that.

Apart from that - I have nothing else planned. I may do some card-making. I started making some yesterday - with varying amounts of success. I have so much craft stuff to store now... that is why we're getting the bookcase. I intend to get some nice boxes to put my stuff in and keep them in the bookcase. Mr Dilemma wanted a cupboard, but the bookcase was free so.....

I've just bought our tickets to the nearest Hawkstone Farmers Choir concert in April. They are doing a tour, with about 24 different venues, next year. I now need to book the pool for swimming on Tuesday. We have just paid for a year's insurance for the car, and the balance for our week away in November, so it's been a really expensive month for us so far and has eaten into our savings. I still have a birthday present to buy for my eldest grandson, but that comes out of my personal money, the same as all the presents for Mr Dilemma's side of the family come out of his own personal money.

Mr Dilemma is about to see about a parcel for which I have received a reminder to pick up. I'm positive I'm not actually expecting anything, so it will be a bonus if there is something.

We will get takeaway on our way home this evening. I fancy pizza, so I expect we will have Chinese.

HundredMilesAnHour · 13/09/2026 10:42

Good morning everyone and happy Sunday!

I’m drinking coffee on my sofa while wearing a face mask. Will shortly drag myself to the shower, get dressed and start loading my car then wash the (damn) car and check tyre pressures etc. I’ve got a 5-6 hour drive ahead of me until I get to my stop-off hotel for the night (before another 4 hour drive tomorrow). I managed to get a good deal on my favourite suite (see photo - I usually stay here around Christmas hence the tree from my last visit) and am looking forward to an evening relaxing.

mondaytosunday · 13/09/2026 11:01

Good morning. One cat didn’t show up for breakfast but did after I went back to bed but other than some scritches she will have to wait! I did top up the dry food (she likes it fresh) so not starving. We (DD and me) are off to a pottery workshop later. I’ve done throwing in the long distant past but it will be fun together. We had a whopper of an argument last night but she send an apologetic text at 2.30 so hopefully smoothed over (it was something that is ultimately my fault but I think she’s totally catastrophised it). Anyhoo going to attempt corn soup this morning - I made a yummy mushroom soup last week to add to my cabbage and butternut soup repertoire and they are so delicious, low calorie and healthy!
OMG the cat has started meowing outside the bathroom door I’m going to have to go down and feed her now…

gingercat02 · 13/09/2026 11:22

Hope the OFSTED visit wasn't too traumatic @lucysmam
Quiet day here, I'm a little bit hungover. DH has just dropped our overnight guest at the station. I'm rehydrating and watching the great north run on TV.
Probably a bit of gardening later or maybe a walk on the beach to clear my head.
F1 this afternoon and probably fajitas for tea.
Its a lovely autumn day here, hope you all have a great day

dicentra365 · 13/09/2026 11:28

Good Morning @lucysmam and all, I've been up for a couple of hours and done a bit of cleaning and a bit of sitting around in my dressing gown scrolling. I need to do some food shopping and I also need some inspiration for dinner. Thinking of what to feed everyone every day may be my least favourite part of the mental load! Before that me and dd are going to the open day of an old mill as part of heritage open week and then if possible I want to be back and sorted before the F1, which I think starts at 3.00pm.

Thislittlekitten · 13/09/2026 11:51

Morning All

Woke up at 8 to let the dog out and have a cup of tea but since then I’ve just been dozing and scrolling. Still recovering from my bug. Mornings always worse.

I made breakfast now just going to watch some football and do my college work. It’s lovely outside so will take DDog somewhere too. Dcats snoozing in the sun.

DH is still in bed with a coffee which is very unusual but he caught my bug. DD in bed, not unusual and DS gaming.

I think we have no real plans today which is great. But do need to do the usual food shop and uniforms.

TheeNotoriousPIG · 13/09/2026 11:58

After the awful week that I've had, I am attempting to muster up the energy to try to do some batch cooking to feed me for at least a week! I'm hoping that the swede doesn't taste like sawdust again, and to do a couple of pies to freeze in portions, some soup and a couple of cakes to cheer me up. At present, I'm sat stuffing my face with junk food! I also need to wash and dry my work clothes, and find my Welsh lesson things, as they haven't seen the light of day since July.

Enjoy your crocheting, @lucysmam , and I hope that OFSTED weren't too hard on you. We had a Health and Safety visit recently, which threw up yet another completely impractical suggestion of how we do something, so we're currently ignoring it and hoping that nobody notices in the meantime.

Summerrain92 · 13/09/2026 12:14

I'm having a chilled day at home .. I may not even get dressed today.. but then I look on SM and see others out and about today and have fomo/ feel like I'm wasting my day... hmm. Im also feeling a bit light headed, which is very unusual for me. I've got lots of admin i could do today at home and I could cross a fair amount off my to do list in doing so🤔

dicentra365 · 13/09/2026 11:30

@dicentra365 it’s the Tower Suite at Crewe Hall in Cheshire. Lots of stairs to get to the suite (and then another 40 steps to get to the lounge at the very top of the tower) but apart from that, it’s lovely!

Good morning all! What's everyone up to today?

I hope everyones having a nice sunday so far. Its election day here in sweden so my husband sorted his vote earlier.

We haven’t done much this weekend, both the kids are coming down with a cold, so we’ve mostly stayed home. Me and the oldest made some mushroom boa buns and some veggie sushi this afternoon, we tried to make mochi but it didn’t work, so instead we’ll have some little ice cream sandwiches.

SereneReader · 13/09/2026 18:29

Had poached eggs on toast for brunch, then pottered about.

Marked a set of English books but then sat in the garden for a while.

DH is in a bit of a funk, he's off work recovering from surgery so I've been keeping his spirits up!

Quick tea and a relaxing evening.

Crunchymum · 13/09/2026 19:01

Late here today too. Happy Sunday evening all.

Today has been a chore day. We have changed all the bedding, done 3 washes, ironed for the week ahead, done the weekly food shop, batch cooked for the freezer (I've also prepped a load of stuff for lunches this week - hard boiled eggs, pesto pasta, potato salad, chicken breasts - plain and with some spice and savoury muffins). DP made lamb neck fillets, minted new potatoes and broccoli for dinner. The non lamb eater had some left over bolognese.

Just about to have some ice cream before tackling the pots.

Plan for an early night with my book.

DilemmaDelilah · 14/09/2026 07:16

@Crunchymum I'm glad I'm not the only person who doesn't like lamb! I can manage lamb's liver, in fact I like it a lot, but any of the muscle meat, including heart, is just disgusting to my taste. The same with goat - and sheep and goat's cheeses. I wonder what it is that makes it so different!

ViciousCurrentBun · 14/09/2026 07:29

We are away in our motorhome on week 3 of touring Ireland . We went swimming in the sea yesterday, wetsuits on as starting to get cold, had lunch out at a very nice pub and also went for a walk along the beach at the Maharees which is an area of special ecological interest, amazing sand dunes covered in sea grass, so you don’t walk on or go in to the actual dunes. Went further along the coast and watched two trawlers bringing their catch in late afternoon.

We are making our way along The Wild Atlantic Way for 6 weeks.
