Can anyone tell me what on earth the video for “Tonight The Streets Are Ours” by Richard Hawley is all about?

It’s a weird one, isn’t it?

I guess it’s about freedom. The pigeons seem free, but they belong to the guy with the pigeon loft. The girl would like to be free, but she’s got a tag on her leg and can’t go out. Her friends are out, but she can’t join them. Her parents are trapped in poverty and all the time the television is selling everyone impossible dreams that seem totally out of reach.

At the end the girl is literally trapped by her ankle tag and her parents can’t hear her. Pigeon post is her only hope of rescue!
