Bottle tops

Are bottle tops generally harder to open than in years gone by?
I seem to struggle with them all but i am getting older so maybe it’s my grip strength.
I know grip strength is an indicator of health in later life so it worries me somewhat.
What are other peoples experiences?

It seems to vary by time of day for me - first thing in the morning, I find it more difficult. I don't get any stiffness in my joints, my hands just seem weaker.

My best tip - grasp the bottle top firmly and twist the bottle, not the cap. The bottle is wider so acts as a force multiplier (the same principle as a lever).

Not related directly to this issue, I find bottle tops that are attached to the bottle a complete pain - not to open, but to close again. I usually twist them off, which defeats the object (I believe the object is to stop the littering of bottle tops) although I would never think of putting a bottle top anywhere other than the bin or recycling box, so that doesn't matter.

The ones with vertical grooves can be very hard on the hands. DP overtightens them and I can't open them without using a tea towel or a rubber glove for purchase. Or I hand them to him to open.

I will try that @TheCoatThatLaunched1000Emails, never thought of that before.
Dh not in so couldn’t ask him, but he annoys me when he over tightens the petrol cover, had to ask for help one time on the forecourt
