Did we do the right thing ending a difficult friendship?

we had a weird friend. She’s kind of strange so I need some assurance that we made the right decision by cutting her out of our lives. Some mutual friends are begging some of us to give her another chance, but we feel she will not improve as she is older than us and is nearly 40 🫤🫤🫤 So I want to make sure we did the right thing by not letting her back into our life, or if we should really work this out. Let me describe some stuff she did:

-She would tell me weird stuff about her other friend, that she “used to like hookups” because she was “afraid of relationships.” I asked her if this was legitimate and if she actually said this, and she admitted it wasn’t and didn’t want to believe me when I told her that aromantic people exist. She always found a way to be defensive and judge other people.

-She asked us to be respectful of her time whenever she got busy and got mad at people when we would ask if she was ok. But would accuse us of deliberately ignoring her or being hurt by what she said if we didn’t respond quickly. She was a hypocrite in this manner all the way through about other things as well.

-She constantly talked shit about her friends and exes and she was always the victim of her stories. She also uses her childhood trauma to trauma bond with people and get them to trust her, which we found to be really creepy and sociopathic.

-She promised time and time again that she would never tell us gross things about her connections, but she constantly does this and we never saw an improvement. She also writes stuff down on her notebook (like my toxic ex did lol) and asked us what she should do next and how she should talk to someone she had an interest in.

idk she always treats people like tasks and tools she can use for therapy or whatever. It was kind of annoying so we thought we made the right decision. What do you think?

How old are you? What's with the faces after saying she's nearly 40?
Obviously you don't have to be friends with anyone you don't want to be.

I meant for her age, she is old enough not to say horrible things about people or act immature. I wanted some validation for this bc some of our mutuals are telling some of us are rude for cutting her off.

She is a massive over sharer and to the point of sharing grim things, I would not want her as a friend especially after you have asked her not to and she continues to.

If your don't like her, don't be friends with her. It really is that simple. It doesn't matter what strangers, or other people you know, think.

Are you students sharing housing? Why are you all so emeshed? Everyone involved needs to grow up and stop living in each others pockets!

Honestly, your post comes across just as equally weird as the things you’re saying about her, and it’s far from clear why you were ever friends with someone you clearly dislike intensely (I mean, I’m assuming she didn’t turn into this person overnight), but you are at liberty to not be friends with anyone, for any reason.

But why are you concerned about the opinions of your mutual friends? Don't you have confidence in your ability to make a decision?

It's alwaya rude to cut someone off... but sometimes justified. You decide. I don't see how it'll be easy to repair if you don't even like her. Sometimes people don't just get along. That's ok. Not everyone needs to be friends. You can be civil though.

Why on earth do you need validation from a bunch of randoms on the internet?!

You don't like her and you don't want to be her friend. There's no need for such angst.

You sound as odd and judgmental as she does tbh

"We don't want to be your friend any more". Are you 7 years old?
