Which mosquito deterrents have worked to stop bites and buzzing at night

Please can someone recommend a mosquito deterrent which has worked for them?

I have a good spray on, Smidge, which does seem to prevent bites, but I am being woken up several times a night by the buzzing!

I know there are plug ins, and also came across something called MosGoneix, but no reviews for it.

So what has worked for you to keep the annoying little buggers away?

A fan pointed at you, I’ve got a moving pedestal one at the end of the bed. They can’t land on you. It really works.

Does it stop the buzzing?
And does the noise of the fan keep you awake?

A mosquito net. They don't get near enough for me to hear them and it means I don't need to use sprays on my skin every night. Not that I'm against sprays - I use them if I'm sat out of an evening.
The buzzing is the absolute worst and bothers me more than the bites. I wake up constantly with it.

I used to swear by mosquito milk but I’m getting bitten currently on this holiday so think I’ll need to find something else for the future.

Which net do you have, @BaronessBomburst ?

I have no idea! I bought it online years ago. My only tip would be that if you have a double bed get one with two openings so you can both easily get in and out of bed, and tablecloth weights or something similar clipped to the bottoms of the 'doors' ensures that they fall closed and stay closed all night.

Deconet Klamboe - SPIDER - frame 100cm/ 1400cm Omtrek - WIT - 2pers - Klamboewinkel.nl https://share.google/yBSVG0qBUA5hwUbGt

Like this, with the spider frame but two openings, one each side of the bed.

You mainly just have to focus on stopping them getting in, if you are talking about inside the house. Keep windows and doors closed, or put mosquito screen netting over the window. You can buy it on Amazon. Anything that you apply to your body to stop you getting bitten will not act to keep them out of the room.
You can get plug in stuff and mosquito coils you can burn.
