Which sofa?

am torn between the Valnâs and the Ektorp from IKEA.

Ektorp is solid and has 10 year guarantee. It’s comfy and reliable. My dad has had his for 20 years. But it’s very traditional.

The Valnäs is stylish but I don’t know how good quality it is. It would cost me perhaps €500 more because I want two 2 seaters and one 3 seater.

Both come with washable covers.

Anyone have the Valnäs and can give me a review?

Just had a look at the Valnäs and I really like it.
I'm looking for sofas in the blue colour so might go and have a look at it in the flesh.

Does anyone know if it is just the cushions covers which are washable or the whole thing?

Edit: to name the one I like!

Which?

with the Valnäs I would hope the frame comes with a cover too. I don’t want a beige frame poking out from blue covers.

Yeah, the Valnäs. I realised that as soon as I re-read my post and was editing whilst you replied.

I'm sure the frame has a cover, just not entirely clear whether the frame cover is removable?

I wash my current sofa cushion covers, but the frame cover is stitched on.

Definitely the Valnas. I'm not a fan of the Ektorp sofa.

Ektorp is the most comfy. It supports your neck, & arm rests are a good height.
but takes up more room with them

Ektorp is comfy but looks scruffy after a while so def Valnas

Kpo58 · 11/09/2026 19:31

Have you tried actually sitting on both of them in real life? You can't buy a sofa without testing it first.

I have sat on them both. No difference in comfort. Ektorp comes with some sort of guarantee.

I think they both have the 10 year guarantee.

The seat depth on the Valnas looks way deeper than the Ektorp so looks like it would be a lot more comfortable.
