60th birthday ideas for Mum

I have the most amazing mum who turns 60 at the end of the month. I already have a few ideas but would love to hear of anything special you’ve gifted/done for your mums big birthdays or have received from your daughters. Any budgets considered, if I could I’d give her the world as that’s what she deserves!

What a fab idea!

I have no suggestion and am a bit of a lurker to be honest. But I felt I had to comment. I see posts all the time about people moaning about their parents and in laws. This is a lovely post. I lost my Mum when I was 13 and this just warms my heart... you are very lucky ❤️ as is she... I hope she has a lovely birthday x

I commissioned a painting of a photo of my mum as a teenager, for her 60th birthday.
She absolutely LOVED it and it has pride of place in her living room.

Oh Lordy.

I mean I m glad that your Mum convinced you she liked it, but I would really cringe at such a present (like when Amy got the painting of her and Penny done as a present, if anyone watches the Big Bang Theory).

I've had my 60th.
Like lots of other replies, the last thing I wanted was 'stuff', but was more than happy to have an afternoon tea.
I also had a party with dancing and a buffet, and my dc took the 'work' off me and sorted the buffet and play list. They also did some photos etc to roll round on a projector.
For me, spending time with friends, and spending time with family is the best present, however corny or cliched it might sound.
If you want to spend £££ then maybe arranging a weekend away with all the family.

I can wholeheartedly assure you that she did absolutely love it. As did everyone else.
It was done by a very accomplished artist.

Its not a portrait, as such. More of a landscape with her as a figure in the background.
If you want to private message me, I can show you pics and vids.

Does she garden? Two of my daughters bought me a rose which I’m thrilled about. Another is taking me to see the Nutcracker. At 60 you don’t want stuff, you want to see people and experiences.

Please don't go for any tat or stuff.

Experiences over anything.

I took my Mum on holiday to the Netherlands for her 60th, we went to the Tulip fields and Anne Frank's house. I have so many fond memories and so glad I did it as she passed away from a short illness when she was 65.
