Is anyone in Salisbury who could possibly help me please?

I did a large sporting event which was a very big deal to me last year.
My now ex offered to have my bib, swim cap etc framed for me using someone he'd had some military medals framed by previously.

I didn't want a standard sports event layout so he was going to do a custom design which he was happy with, however I've been chasing him by April. To start with he would say yes I'll do it tomorrow, but now he's just not replying.
I'm the other end of the country and tbh, I just want the items back now, they're hugely valuable to me on a personal level.

Is anyone local to Salisbury and do you know if Welbourne Medals and Framing is still open at all?
Bit of a long shot I appreciate, but texts, phone calls and Insta messages are being ignored. I've been polite and only chased every couple of weeks and don't know what to do now. It would be really helpful to even know if the store is open/looks closed up etc if anyone is likely to pass it any time soon.

Oooh I love a niche thread

and it doesn’t get more niche that this!!

Not in Salisbury but I googled and found a Companies House record which appears to show they were struck off/dissolved in 2022 but this may
not mean that the owner or former director may not have set under another (possibly similar) name.
Best of luck with your search!

I was going to help as my daughter is at work in Salisbury today and I was going to ask her, but Melbourne is actually in Amesbury

BlessedAreThePureOfHeart · Yesterday 12:32

Sorry Welbourne!

AllGrownUpMolly · Yesterday 12:34

So your ex doesn't have the items anymore, he is saying that company does?

ginasevern · Yesterday 13:54

Maybe worth posting on a local Salisbury Facebook site? Hope you get your items back OP.

I second finding a local Salisbury Facebook group to ask on
(Although I hope you do get an answer on here of course!)

Ooohaaahjustalittlebit · Yesterday 13:57

(i am localish but not local enough)

Ooohaaahjustalittlebit · Yesterday 14:00

Looking at Instagram his last posts were in 2024

Thanks everyone, hadn't thought of finding a local FB group, if anyone knows of one to try that would be helpful.

He definitely has the items, he sent me a couple of design mock ups with some questions. There was then an issue because ex hadn't included an item, so he posted it, but royal mail fucked up and delivered an empty envelope.
So there was some delay our side, but once we'd clarified this I asked for designs to be re-sent, he said he'd do them that day and that was June and I have heard nothing since 😭

And apologies, I just went off Google saying Salisbury as I don't know the area!

I know. But I've seen alsorts of random requests on here over the years and MN coming to the rescue, and I figured I have nothing to lose at this point 🙄😂

I reckon it wasn’t a Royal Mail cock up at all!

@Asmallburpi assume the framer who has her items has ghosted her

Is your ex not local to him?

BoarBrush · Yesterday 14:19

Push the boat out and fb message his wife, she might respond...
And post on this group.

Ah for clarity... ex isn't local particularly either, but this guy had previously framed some items for my ex which is why he wanted to use him.
Ex and me are on good terms and he feels awful about it!
It's the framer who has ghosted me - I got sent the photo of the torn envelope in the royal mail bag saying we're sorry your item was damaged, call us for compensation (of which there is none because it's emotional value not monetary) so I do believe ex sent it and that it was royal mails fuck up.

Your social media stalking skills are better than mine, I shall see if I can identify his wife and try her too! And post on that group, thankyou :)

I’m a bit confused - is it possible that the items were lost by Royal Mail?

Sorry.

So my ex sent 2 swim caps, a race bib, finishers photo, a chip timer band and a couple of business card sized plaques off for framing.

These were all received and the framer sent me an example mock up, at which point I realised my race wristband was missing.

Ex located the wristband and posted it in an envelope, which I chased framer to ask if it had arrived and how was it coming on. At which point he said the envelope had arrived torn and sent a photo of it in a royal mail bag.

There was then a delay whilst I contacted royal mail to see if they can locate it, and framer said he would try his local sorting office as they know him and might be able to help.

I had no joy and so went back to him to say so, and could we confirm a design without the wristband as I've had to accept that's lost, and he said he would do it that day.

This was back in June and at various points since then I have rung, left voicemails and sent texts. All very polite incase something has happened, but I've heard literally nothing back.

But tbh I'm just bloody gutted. I can't just re-order those items, they were from a significant and expensive race with sentimental value over anything else.

I am close enough to Amesbury to pop in to the shop at some point, but I wouldn’t quite know what to say! Would be happy to help try to retrieve your items, I know how awful it is to lose belongings with huge sentimental value. Not sure what my approach should be, though…🙂
