Let down by airport special assistance

On Monday afternoon I returned to Gatwick from Barcelona airport, the thing is I require special assistance, due to mid stage Parkinson’s, I can walk difficult at times, better at other times.
My brother who lives nearby came to wait at assistance , 2 hrs early as requested , pre booked and stated on tickets, we constantly checked, I was catching a 17.30 flight, by 17.05 I was told I would have to get myself there, ( luckily reasonably small airport), spoke to a guy in authority who spoke to easyJet and allowed me to get own my flight at 17.25,.
i believe they were short staffed and were struggling to cope?

Was tired and achy! Has anyone else been let down badly like me?
Had it a few times, no issues

I read an article about how the number of people wanting special assistance has absolutely rocketed and unfortunately not all those who request specialist assistance actually really need it which means that people like you who are genuine claimants of this service suffer.

It happens regularly. I tried it once, on a Friday night flight from Cologne to Stansted. German end was great. British end - lift not there, flight crew wanting to leave so I walked down the stairs. I had to get up into the minibus as well as they didn't have ramps that fit the wheelchair. When my friend pushed me to passport control and said we were expecting some assistance the guy laughed and pointed at another passenger in a wheelchair and he had been there two hours already. I never flew back post surgery again. Instead we took three days for DH to drive out and collect me and drive us home.
