You’re a fan of Diana Wynne Jones!

TruffleSlinky · 11/09/2026 08:32

It makes me think Cart and Cwidder but I'm not 100% sure that's the right one!

Littledidsheknow · 11/09/2026 08:35

Not the foggiest!

OsfameronTanamoril · 11/09/2026 09:14

Polly Hemlock and Truffle Slinky got it.
It's the hero from the book " Cart and Cwidder' by Diana Wynne Jones. Just wondered if anyone was a fan!

I love Diana Wynne Jones. I was reading her books long before the Harry Potter phenomenon and could never understand why she wasn’t more talked about and in the fore front of children’s/ya literature. I also love HP but to my mind Diana WJ is a far more intelligent read.

TruffleSlinky · 11/09/2026 09:20

Love Diana Wynne Jones. My favourite childhood author. And @pollyhemlock your name is also apt!

Yes indeed. She was such an original writer. Cart and Cwidder is the first of the Dalemark quintet. Spellcoats is my favourite of these.

OsfameronTanamoril · 11/09/2026 10:42

I have not actually read the rest of the Dalemark Quintet. Maybe I will now.

My people!

Charmed Life is still my favourite. And Throgmorten from the Lives of Christopher Chant. And the weird one at the sci fi convention with the Scarlatti loving ghost in a clapped out old car.

Also love Howl's Moving Castle and the Myazaki movie too.

You’re thinking of Deep Secret, which is my favourite book of all time.

Throgmorten is the best fictional cat ever.
