How can I boost my energy levels?

I am waiting a blood test to check my thyroid levels already diagnosed hypothyroid, take 125mg thyroxine daily. Well aware that this exhaustion could easily be down to needing meds adjusting.

But, what else can I do? I have just falken asleep. Im yawning all day at work. Cant exercise. Struggling with energy to cook a proper meal(vicioys circle going on...)

What have you done thats made a difference?

I agree with this poster, even a short walk daily will help.
Lots of fresh healthy food - are you veggie/vegan? If not, start eating some chicken or turkey, with vegetables/salads - healthy & lots of protein . 🙂
And sleep!! Good quality sleep is vital. Bed early!

I do get outside daily, even if just for half an hour. When Im feeling ok i eat a LOT of salads, stir frys , roasted veg, with chicken/fish. Not veggie or vegan.

Mmm, maybe there's something else going on apart from the thyroid?
Possibly your upcoming blood tests will show what it is.

Bigpawlittlepaw · 10/09/2026 18:54

What are you eating when you're not feeling ok?

User3456 · 10/09/2026 18:58

I have ME/CFS and pacing is what helps me, breaking activities into chunks.
It might be worth keeping an activity/fatigue diary to see if you can spot any patterns if your blood tests come back clear. One of the criteria for ME/CFS is post exertional malaise, which is fatigue that hits later, usually 24-48 hours after activity.
Also, avoid viruses if you can as they can leave you feeling really wiped for a while even if it doesn't lead to long term issues (look up post viral fatigue). You certainly don't need anything else to deal with whilst you're feeling like this :-(
Hope you start to feel better soon 💐

Today I had greek yogurt, granola, blueberries pretty good.

Lunch bought a sub sandwich and crisps. Snacks on loads of rice cakes. About 6 large ones.

Had chippy chips last night i know this is not helping.

Currently making a salad.

Is a short nap/rest after lunch a possibility? When I can squeeze in a 30 minute nap it can be a total game change for me

I am by far someone to offer diet advice but try to snack on protein. If you’re not veggie and you need something on the go then even fridge raiders work.

Bemyclementine · 10/09/2026 19:07

@MintedOnVinted I know, it just all goes down the pan when Im tired. Id normally have a stash of boiled eggs, cooked chicken, even clear protein in water.

In the last 24 hours you’ve had lots of processed carbs foods with virtually no protein or veg. That’s got to be a big factor.

As I said, its because I am so exhausted that I am eating this stuff. I did say i usually eat a lot of salads stir frys, roasted veg with chicken/fish.
