How often to wash school blazer

Just that. My dc has been at high school a week. I thought maybe weekly on a gentle wash (it is machine washable). How often do others wash them

Once a week otherwise they get all faded and ruined. I actually started off taking to get them properly dry cleaned but I cba now so they get a weekly wash.

DDs had them but they were just polyester, I chucked them in weekly, kept their shape just fine. They wore them in place of a jumper which I would also wash weekly (the uniform changed from blazers to school jumpers after a few years of them being there, they missed the blazers because of all the storage in the pockets!).

I wash ours on a Friday, they go a bit soft after a while but are actually much nicer to wear then!

My DC have always had wool/wool mix blazers - I take them to the dry cleaners in the school holidays.
Hang up and brush if needed in between.

Same as I would for any coat.

Once a week seems a huge amount.

I used to do it once a week. Then twice a week when they started sweating 🤢🤢🤢

Once a week if needed, put it in a coat hanger to dry. If you can get away with a spot clean then just do that. My sons school they can take them off in lessons so it's not actually worn that much.

DD's was dry clean only so it went on the Saturday of each holiday to them.

Otherwise, taking off immediately at home, ensuring the jumper/shirt underneath was always fresh and plenty of airing outside and Febreeze-ing it (and more airing).

Once every half term. My kids wear theirs over a jumper so it’s like a coat. I’d never wash a coat every week

I wash ours every half term. They don't spill stuff down them and they don't smell. May have to rethink when my boy hits puberty but so far it works.

I found that ours were very quick drying, so can dry overnight in the back if a chair.

It takes longer to empty the 2 million pockets of essential scraps of paper and pens

so so true and I still end up fishing bits out of washer

Big difference between boys and girls and sporty vs non-sporty children. My DD's blazers last at least 1-3 years, never get smelly, dirty, torn or crumpled and I wash them once a term if that. My nephew seems to need a new blazer several times a year and his gets washed weekly (and desperately needs it).

Both of us wash them in the machine then hang to dry, I use a mild hand wash detergent but I suspect my sister uses normal detergent and dettol sanitiser to help with the smell.

Depends what they are made out of
ours are polyester so I do a handwash setting once a week (with bras and any other delicates) and wash like that - usually on the Friday evening

do they look clean ?

if they don’t look dirty, sniff the neck and pits, and if they dont smell dirty …. they dont need washed.

Every half term but I have girls who aren’t very sweaty.

My dd has never been stinky or sweaty so once per half term works unless she gets messy

Gosh it was every half term unless it got dirty/stained or stinky. When adolescence hit a good deodorant and it was fine. Son’s got washed more frequently than DD’s simply because he would get stains/mud on it.
