Awake since 2:20, I have so much to do at work tomorrow 🙈

DS woke for a feed at 2:20 and I’ve been awake ever since due to too much playing on my mind.

I think it’s unlikely I’ll be able to get back to sleep now as DS usually wakes for another feed at any point from now.

I am (luckily?) WFH today but I had so much to get done. The main task I need to do requires extended concentration and focus for the vast majority of the day. I’m not sure whether I should phone in sick?!

I’m so tired of not getting enough sleep Sad

Do you have a partner? If so can you get a couple of hours after the next feed and see how you get on?

WhyDontYouLeave · 09/09/2026 05:45

Hope you got back to sleep, op. I count down from 100 backwards when my mind won’t quiet. Slowly—100, sleep, 99, sleep, 97, sleep…I don’t always drift off but it does help to calm my mind and reduces the anxiety about not sleeping somewhat.

Same OP.
It sucks.

I wouldn't call in sick but if the task has consequences I would tell my boss I might be a bit slow on it today and ask them to check it later. I'd also try for a nap at lunchtime. Good luck OP!

Thank you all.

Unfortunately I have never been able to nap in the day (only in the very early stages of pregnancy!) but I will give it a try!

I’m still trying to focus but definitely flagging now!

@sherry27 you can do it! Food and coffee! 💐

It is possible to phone in sick during your working day. When I’ve felt like this I’ve always told myself to just go in, if I need to phone because I genuinely couldn’t carry on then no could complain that I wasn’t even attempting to crack on a bit. I find once I’ve started I’ve always managed to carry on with the day, only once have I had to stop and go home and that was when I was genuinely ill and had started vomiting. Full sympathies though. You’re in the trenches right now

Its tough op i remember these days very well. Drink a coffee then immediately go for a nap, before it kicks in. Even if you don't drop off just have a rest. An eye mask might help. I used to set an alarm for either 45 minutes or 1.5 hours so wake up at end of sleep cycle, otherwise I'd feel worse. When you get up, have some toast and some sweets if you have them. Then go to bed as early as possible tonight, eye mask, earplugs and white noise.
