Today I started as a self employed childminder! I used to be a childminder 9 years so have logged into my HMRC account to try and add my buisness but I cant work out how to do it. One option said I dont need to do it. Am I better to just call them when I get a chance?
thanks!

Yes, call them. Unless an accountant comes along on here to advise you. Do you have any childminder friends you could ask?
I registered before my business was making any money, because I wanted it done. I’m confused as to why they would tell you that you don’t need to do it.

Is your UTR from your previous self employment still in there? It could be that you don’t need to start from scratch but just tell them you need to start tax returns again.

Have a look on the first page when you log in. DP went back to self employment in a completely different field after a gap of several years and all his details from the first time were still there.

However, over the next year or so, you'll need to register with Making Tax Digital so that's a new thing to get your head around.
