Has hydroquinone helped anyone with brown spots on the face?

After a few years on tret only, I started Tretinoin 0.1%/ Hydroquinone 4% cream through Dermatica a month or so ago. I'm hoping the hydroquinone will help with the brown spots on my face (I use SPF 50 daily so I'm not sure whether they are melasma, sun damage, age - I'm early 50s, or what else).

Has anyone else here used hydroquinone to address brown spots and, if so, has it worked?

Yes! Also through Dermatica, I’m on month two now, but my skin can only tolerate the cream every other day.
I’ve had amazing results, I’d say my pigmentation has improved by 50%

That's amazing! I really hope I get similar results.

Some of my aunties on my paternal side used to use this to ‘bleach’. Besides the elbows and the knees, they would become very light indeed, however, it led to some serious skin issues down the road.

Yes it’s not for long term use, dermatica only prescribe it for three to four tubes I think.

I’ve been using apple cider vinegar and it’s slowly fading brown spots on my face and hands.

It should work very quickly.

Were they using hydroquinone? If so, was it prescribed?

Isn't vinegar far too astringent on your skin?

Yes that was the active ingredient, not prescribed but widely available form back home and even in London although this is now sold illegally under the counter.

If the GP has prescribed to you, stick with that because it would be regulated and safe.

Unfortunately we have a lot of issues with colourism in our community so many aspire to be lighter in skin tone but so long term damage.

It's very sad when people try to bleach their skin colour for the 'wrong' reasons.

Mine is prescribed, through Dermatica. I'm really hoping it helps, as I find that brown spots on my face really age me and make me feel much less confident when I’m not wearing foundation.
