It might on the Northern Line but eventually we all go to Mornington Crescent!

Quickly setting up the new thread before we run out on the previous!

No, I assure you, Maud, it was all very innocent at Arundel.
Dorking, on the other hand...

But enough said, and a swift sleight of hand to Gallions Reach

DuckonaBike · 04/10/2026 10:20

Thats not what I heard, Always, but we’ll let it go for now.

I can see what you’re doing there, but I think I can thwart it. Tower Gateway

LlynTegid · 04/10/2026 10:46

Innocence is a word often used throughout history in the vicinity of Tower Gateway. Before any further conversation, let's move westwards to Cannon Street.

As for Dorking, the phrase 'what happens in Vegas' (etc) was probably coined by someone who came from there.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 04/10/2026 10:51

Well, Vegas is another level altogether, as anyone who was at the international tournament (mistakenly held in the casino) in ‘97 may dimly recall. A special relationship indeed.

Sloane Square

AlwaysExtraHot · 04/10/2026 18:04

Duck, well headed off! I assume you invoked Prendergast? I'd forgotten about that knotty old rule.
A volta to Queen’s Park.

LlynTegid · 05/10/2026 07:58

I was not even made aware of the '97 tournament. I wonder if there was a reason for this- hope the move to Ongar using the closed line rule was not why I was conveniently not invited.

Hatch End

TragicMuse · 05/10/2026 17:15

I wouldn’t take it personally @LlynTegid there were many surprising omissions that year. Someone tried to say it was the database, but we all know the Secretary’s views on IT. The truth of was he lost his address book. Left it on a gondola while cruising the Grand Canal with his ~ahem~ amore…

On the theme of boats, Cutty Sark for maritime Greenwich

OP posts:
AlwaysExtraHot · 05/10/2026 18:49

Well, that's what the Secretary said anyway, but one does hear that there were more than addresses in that book of his, and it rather suited him to 'lose' it.
But what do I know?
Ealing Broadway with a Torque.

LlynTegid · 06/10/2026 18:00

Ealing Common, a move before I get into any more discussions about address books.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 06/10/2026 22:33

Osterley

I will not be taking questions on this matter.

DurhamDime · 06/10/2026 23:11

I fear it’s getting a little fractious now we’re at the business end of this game.

As a newcomer I’ll stay somewhat neutral and hope a reverse tiptoe back to Ealing Broadway might diffuse the situation.

AlwaysExtraHot · 07/10/2026 10:13

I'm not surprised, Maud!

Heron Quays (yes, I know what Bartlett says about that, but cross-reference with the Copenhagen Protocol and you'll see where I'm coming from).

TragicMuse · 07/10/2026 10:24

Gotta love the Danes, eh @AlwaysExtraHot? Neat little move there.

I certainly have fond memories of that spring weekend in Copenhagen, yes…
Hornchurch

Vaguelyclassical · 07/10/2026 21:24

Not so sure about Copenhagen. Something was definitely rotten in the state of Denmark. But maybe my memory is affected (infected?) by that quite vicious dispute over sub-clause 3b.
It all ends at Upminster . . . .

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 08/10/2026 10:51

So many things have ended, sadly, in Upminster including the extremely torrid affair between the Major and that formidable lady bassoonist. Very discordant indeed, in its dying days.

Goldhawk Road

AlwaysExtraHot · 08/10/2026 17:06

Vaguely, Copenhagen was never the same after that, I agree, but I am clearly of a different vintage to you; I was there in the glory days, when there was an adjudicator who was also a part-time lifeguard and who was most willing to show off his prowess.

Theydon Bois

LlynTegid · 09/10/2026 07:26

A move to the quiet place that is Roding Valley.

A full time adjudicator for the game of games just seems a bad idea. They might invent rules that no one else has heard of, even the Major.

Oh, it was a seasonal position only. It didn't really attract the power-mad sort.
General Secretary for the annual Runcorn Concord d'Esprit, on the other hand...

Chiswick Park

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 09/10/2026 15:37

Ah, Runcorn. The hallowed home of so many rounds of the game of games. I recall one balmy evening there, when the Major and the clerk to the parish council fell out of the hammock after a particularly heated argument about the Leamington Principle, which I shall now invoke for a downward shunt to

Clapham South

AlwaysExtraHot · 09/10/2026 16:21

I must have been absent for that one. I admit I have tried not to go to Runcorn every year; there are only so many times one can watch the dues secretary's act with his dachshund and whatever the vegetable garden has produced that year.
I presume that, now Leamington is in play, I can ignore the possibility of thermal risk and say Monument?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 09/10/2026 19:46

Deftly done, AlwaysExtraHot. In furtherance of the Landmark Ruling:

Tower Hill

Vaguelyclassical · 10/10/2026 18:52

And following your lead, Maud, to Marble Arch.
Even though one always gets lost in the labyrinthine subway.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 10/10/2026 19:44

If only more people would follow my lead, Vaguelyclassical; the world would be a far better place and we might have avoided that unseemly fracas at the Northallerton play-offs involving the bishop, the mezzo soprano and the prop forward. But here we are.

Westminster

DuckonaBike · 11/10/2026 08:53

Unseemly indeed, Maud, I remember it well. Let us say that the young man was not all he seemed.

I’m going to make a Farquhar Loop to Tooting Bec, if nobody has any objection.
