Dishwasher engineer scratched cabinet door and floor. What should I ask for?

The manager is calling me back shortly. We fitted the kitchen and floor ourselves, but I don’t have time to do the whole floor again. He made 2 deep scratches in a cabinet door and 2 scuffs on the floor. (As well as damaging the dishwasher, breaking its legs and brackets). It was shambolic.
I think the manager is going to ask me what we would like in compensation. Is it fair to include in the calculation a professional to fit the floor and cabinet, even though we did it ourselves first time? The door was from DIY kitchens and the floor was a roll of Lino.

Whether you did it yourselves or not is not
of their concern. They need to cover the cost of the repairs and any inconvenience to yourselves

The fact that you did it yourself is irrelevant unless your installation was substandard and made e the floor more likely to be damaged ie uneven

We had this a few years new fitted kitchen door damaged through carelessness.

The repairs were carried out but ourselves and we eventually got compensation after I made contact with the MD's secretary. It took months.
Good luck.

Yes, it’s completely fair to ask. You should be asking for the cost of rectifying the situation i.e. the items/materials plus having them replaced. It’s irrelevant that you did it yourself last time.

Thank you! I shall do some research.

Take your time do t be rushed into giving figure over the phone and tell the manager you will email them with an amount which would cover the damage. Politely ask him to email you asking for the amount too. So you have things in writing.
