Best Lego sets/accessories for 6yo

DS (will be 6 in a couple of months) has recently developed a real love for Lego.

He has a couple of starter type sets and a couple of models but much prefers just building his own creations rather than following instructions ☺️ He also has a few large base boards.

I’m thinking ahead to birthday/Christmas and wondering if there are any particularly cool sets/accessories or anything that your little ones have loved? ☺️

He does keep asking if you get Lego motors and gears so he can make things that move 🫠 is that a thing?!

And storage - what are the best storage options out there?

Any help would be appreciated 😅

My 5 year old also absolutely loves Lego both building sets and freestyle. I think if he likes building his own creations then getting a big mixed load of Lego off vinted would be good. We have 3 IKEA trofast tubs of mixed Lego which keeps my son occupied all afternoon. He particularly loves making vehicles and you can get wheel bundles on vinted as well!

@Nittynarna22 Thank you! I should have added that I’ve got a couple of bundles of just mixed pieces from Vinted already too ☺️ got some great bargains! DS loves finding lots of odd shaped pieces and imagining what they could be ☺️

Look at some 3 in 1 sets. They will help him see how the same pieces can be used in different ways.
