I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in my conservatory spot, after a nice cuddle with girl cat for a change! Boy cat's been for a cuddle down here & now we're listening to the sound of rain on the roof. I did have some towels on the line but have got them in until later on when it hopefully stops!

Dd2's up already. Her plan was to reset their bedroom to suit mostly just her using it for the next few months, wash the trousers she wants for tomorrow and magically appear with a pair she wants taken up that I've mentioned fairly frequently for the past 4 weeks or so 🤔.

I plan to go round downstairs with a notebook and write myself a to do list of things to get done now the weather's turning. I'll start in here where I've noticed some silicone seal stuff coming unstuck & go from there. I'll also carry on assembling my crochet project & think about what's next - some felt decorations maybe.

We're having roast chicken for tea, roast spuds and veg - parsnips in particular 😋. After that it's showers, make sure we're sorted for the week & continue my book, before an early one ready for tomorrow 💤.

What about you?🙂

Om not working today so of course woke up too early around 6.30am and couldn't get back to sleep. Had my tea and toast and currently watching Alan Titchmarsh. I like the drinks bit they do at the end but Linda Laplant is annoying me.

TheNavyPlayer · 06/09/2026 11:23

Morning, I've had the best night's sleep and woke up at 10.30. I've got some COVID/cold virus, been coughing myself silly and felt so ill all bank holiday and last week. I've had a shower, now just having a coffee with my dog, before I fold all the washing watching Downton. Then I might start feeling hungry! I hate being ill.

Good morning lucysmam and others. I was up about seven and had two coffees and a slice of toast. I sorted the washing into piles and put on the first load while I went to Aldi. Then home to get the dryer on, the dishwasher emptied and loaded again and a cup of tea. I've been lying down because of awful gallbladder pain yesterday. It lifted slightly but its still lurking, so I'm being careful. Have a good day all

An easy slow morning here. Had 2 cups of tea, toast, put a wash on which is now in the dryer and need to get another one going soon.

Thinking about what to have for lunch now, will be a bit of a mish mash as run most things down before Ocado shop coming this afternoon.

Will try and get DD14 out for a short walk after lunch, then will be back to the usual of uniform and work stuff sorted. Need to find something relaxing to watch this evening. Not looking forward to work tomorrow as a co-worker who doesn’t come into the office much will be in tomorrow, she talks for England - am just hoping she doesn’t decide to sit in my office otherwise I’ll end up with a headache!

Enjoy the rest of your Sundays all!!

Afternoon afternoon

Eldest and I been at green volunteering this morning doing our bit for the village (early start but the outdoor exercise seems to have cheered him up a bit - and a sense of purpose)

Youngster chasing a ball around - dad watching a ball being chased around, then they will watch another ball on tv get chased around and then racing cars chasing each other around.

Everyone back full time, full uniform, bags packed tomorrow. So a “get organised” afternoon/evening and have a chicken to roast (too warm still for a full Sunday roast so spicy rice maybe).

It’s definitely a life could be worse day today.

Commiserations to those not feeling so grand @Thislittlekitten and @TheNavyPlayer but glad you are not doing so bad today @DilemmaDelilah
I had wanted to do a recce to Wall beside Hexham as that's where the church walking group is planning to go on Thursday but I've had a bad stomach all morning; the kids have had to head off by metro (DS to church and DD to work)'
It's raining anyway so DH and I keep watching episodes of The Undeclared War; he had wanted me to take him to Wickes but I'm not going anywhere.
I am just sorting myself out some hard boiled eggs and sausages for my lunch, hoping that will be ok.
Vaguely blaming the bad stomach on liquorice allsorts the other day as I don't normally eat them.
I have loads of messages to answer but not done that either. Thankfully I did quite a bit of housework yesterday so things aren't too bad, just I would have liked to enjoy Sunday.
DD finishes work at 6.30; I'm hoping I might be well enough to pick her up by then.

Took the youngest back to University yesterday for his second year. Well, we went in convoy, he’s got a car now, so we loaded ours and his and off we went, was only 60 miles. Shared house he is in this year is lovely, has a fantastic roof terrace that overlooks the sea. Far different from my student days!!!

Not doing a huge amount today, as I had emergency surgery last Sunday for an infection and still recovering.

Eldest is off back to University next Saturday (6 times the distance to drive this time!!) so revving myself up for that!! 😫

Will sit down this afternoon and have a beer.

Good morning (afternoon) @lucysmam and all. its lovely weather here today. We've had rain overnight and everything is lush and green, with my garden looking so much nicer than it has for most of the summer.
I got up this morning and did some tidying, then made Mary Berry's lemon drizzle cake. Dh and dd went to visit his sisters new house, which she has just moved into and I went to pick ds up from his girlfriends. He has now gone up to Warrington to perform a gig with his band. This afternoon me and dd are going over to a friend who is having one last social for the kids in her large paddling pool/swimming pool before it goes away for the winter. Looking forward to catching up with friends.

Afternoon all! I had a lie in this morning and didn't get into 7:20am- way different to my normal 5am wake up.

Dp has gone over to finish some plumbing on the house we are renovating for ds26 can move into, then he's going home.

Ive just got in from picking up ds21 from the train station as he's been at his girlfriends for a few days. I currently have sausages in the oven as it's hotdogs for lunch, so I'll put some onions on a bit. Then it's down to the hospital to see mum. She's had a few falls and is very confused but they can't find an infection or cause of it's so she's in until they can arrange home care. It's such a worry. I work away a lot and DBro is in 200 miles away. I'm on pins worrying about how she's going to cope alone.

Ds21 is back in the city Tuesday as he has to sort out his right to work at the student union, as he says why? They already hold all the information they need about him lol then he's helping out with freshers week before he goes back properly a few weeks.

lucysmam · 06/09/2026 13:36

Sigh! It's still raining so have tumbled the towels & am just waiting for dd2 to bring her trousers so I can do a dark wash. I do want to get in the garden, but not in the rain, so that's a tomorrow job now.

I've spoken to dd1 - she's off to Asda for a spud masher & gravy granules before the Bon Jovi crowd descends. Apparently she really wants mash 🤷‍♀️.

@lucysmam it's a beautiful sunny day down here in Devon. 23 degrees, so not over-hot, just pleasant. I'm hoping some more of my tomatoes ripen today.

Simonjt · 06/09/2026 19:00

I hope those who weren’t feeling great are feeling a bit better.

We’ve had a fairly lazy day, the kids played nicely together for about twenty minutes before it led to an argument, so the oldest stormed off to the park in a strop. He returned when he realised the biscuits we had made would be almost ready, so he sat and ate them with a face like a slapped arse.

I hope you all enjoy the last few hours of sunday.

Girasoli · 06/09/2026 19:21

We've had a really nice day, all went to church together in the morning and then in the afternoon DH took DS1 to his first match of the season (they won) and then DS2 and I went to a birthday picnic.
DS2 especially liked that it was outside so there were lots of different things to do (e.g. play games or on the playground equipment etc.)

Currently waiting for the jacket potstoes to be ready for dinner.

opalfruits76 · 06/09/2026 19:38

i went to see dm in hospital and she's still as confused as ever. Just waiting on an assessment and home care to be sorted before she can come home. I've no idea how I'm going to manage.
