Sorry, I know these have been done before but I haven’t seen one for a while and I always get inspiration from them and a dent in my purse. It doesn’t matter how cheap or how expensive. What has been the best thing you have bought this year that has improved your life? (Eg in the past it has been heated throws, steam cleaners, beauty products etc)

Waterdrop A1 machine. Filters my tap water and I get so much use out of it. I drink more water as a result. No more plastic bottles. Water tastes great. Various temps and I also use it to make my tea and I no longer get skin on my tea.

This steam cleaner! It has sooo many accessories, even one specifically for cleaning windows and oh boy does it ever! £49.99 on Amazon and worth every penny. Very solid and will last a long time. I even use it to clean the bath and the car’s alloys!

I’m amazed this thread didn’t take off…. I sat down purposely to come and see what I was buying next! Shocked. Posting to bump

A private autism assessment for DS2 is my winner by a country mile. Followed by tickets to Paddington theatre show. But if you want an actual thing it's got to be my Hoka Clifton 10 trainers, they have revolutionised my ability to walk long distances.

My air fryer. Bloody awesome. Rarely use anything else now.

MrsMoastyToasty · 06/09/2026 19:26

My new car.
My last car died and repairs were going to cost more than the value of the car do it had to be scrapped. The old one was a diesel model and old too, which meant that it was subject to the congestion charge in Bristol.

A huge Persian rug for my living room. It’s changed the whole room into such a cosy space.

I'm loving this , I hate my " small dental plate" with a passion
This is a fancier way of keeping them clean .
Means I don't have to use the horrid denture box.

I joined a super fancy gym so now always shower and blow dry my hair there instead of just jumping in the car sweaty. so I bought a second toiletry bag with duplicates of all my favourite hair/face/body stuff so that I can keep it on my gym bag permanently.

also 10 pairs of GoodLookers reading glasses. They are everywhere: in my home office, work office, car, gym bag, random drawers.

Ninja Thirsti bottle. It was expensive but you can use it for fizzy drinks, I take it to work and it never leaks and keeps all the fizz.

DinoLil · 07/09/2026 21:31

An ice making machine, I use it every day!

I love Persian rugs and yes they look so luxurious and homely. Do you mind me asking where you bought yours from?

I have one of these but find the spout a bit big for drinking out of but not big enough to sip from. I now have a SodaStream Fizz & Go and it’s a bigger spout but it means you can sip from it. It’s also the perfect height for a straw AND it fits my SodaStream machine

A sleeping mask with built in speakers/headphones. Sleeping much better listening to sleepy time youtubes.

DamnFineWoman · 08/09/2026 11:42

A robot floor vacuum with washing facility.
To get up in a morning to vacuumed carpets and cleaned floors is a game changer for me!
I will never not love ‘Roberta Vac’

I've started sewing as a newbie (well unless you count 50years ago at school!) and have bought this sewing machine and love it. It's very much a beginners machine but cost less than £100. I'm no Vivienne Westwood but I've been happily making cushion covers, bunting etc. My dog is the best dressed dog in town with all the bandanas I've made her!

Our portable air con units. We bought one for upstairs and another for downstairs earlier in the year. We both work from home and I am fully in the grips of the perimenopause. By goodness, those machines have saved my sanity this year.

Hi B0D, this is the best one of the few samples I tried. Very comfy when sleeping on your side.

Magnesium Bisglycinate - has so improved my sleep!

Sunbringer · 10/09/2026 18:07

A second hand writing desk - solid oak, Jacobean revival, likely 1890s. I got it for £20 and all it needs is a clean

HambleTheDoll · 10/09/2026 18:13

Trtl neck pillow. Slept all the way to Thailand. If you get one, get it from TikTok shop as they’re always cheap on there
