Hi
My 3 yo had pre school vaccines on Thursday (two days ago) would you be concerned about his arm today? He had fever and was very lethargic yesterday but seems ok in himself today

I'm no expert but maybe take him to a pharmacy or call 111? There is a sore arm and a sore arm isn't there

Agree with PP that you could take your DS to a pharmacy and ask to speak to the pharmacist for advice.

Why is the cotton wool and tape still on? How does the injection site look now? But yes pop to a pharmacy for peace of mind

Pharmacy and speak to the pharmacist

That tape gives me red & itchy skin so I would take that off for a start and see how it goes. I’ve never left in on more than 10 mins after an injection.

Cotswoldmama · 05/09/2026 13:02

If he seems ok in himself and no temp, I'd just keep an eye on it. If the actually injection site looks infected maybe visit a miu unit for them to have a look or a pharmacy. As others have said I'd have removed the cotton wool after about 5 mins.

LittleGreenShoots · 05/09/2026 13:08

Is the area warm? If it's giving off heat I think its more likely something is wrong, but you should have them checked regardless- I can't recall the redness staying longer than a few hours.

Please take off the tabe and cotton! That should have gone on Thursday, poor thing.

Meand2Ls · 05/09/2026 15:42

Go to the pharmacy but that tape has been on way too long. Shouldn’t have been on past a couple of hours, loads of people react to that tape

It is a fairly common side effect and can last for about 2 weeks. DD had similar.
