How on earth would a 15yo buy alcohol these days?

I'm in my 40s and still get ID'd occasionally, not a brag, i look my age!!

In old days we had our ways but I just can't see that happening now?

They ask older people to go into a shop and buy it for them. And some people will do this. When I worked in a supermarket if we suspected someone was trying to buy alcohol for someone below the legal age we had to refuse the sale.

Last year I was walking down the High Street of a local town . There were a teenage boy and girl hanging about outside a shop and the girl approached me with a tale about how it was her 18th birthday but she didn't have any ID yet so would I buy some alcohol for her . She had her money in her hand. Of course I refused.

U6 pupils at my child's school seem to routinely pass on their 'lost' provisional driving licences to younger pupils who have a passing resemblance to them.

A lot of small corner shops/mini marts do not check. They are just happy to make a sale.
There has been stuff in the news about some of these shops selling illegal cigarettes and vapes. Those ones would not care about under age drinkers.

Dressing up in their parents clothes to look middle aged

If you have reason to believe this of particular shops then you should report it to the local authority.
Trading Standards can carry out test purchases based upon intelligence.
Also it may affect their liquor licence.

DS's most beardy friend could do it from 16 I think. He was "on call" for quite a large group.

Of course, a lot of parents will buy it for their 15 year olds, in a misguided effort to ensure they know what they are drinking.

We always knew what perv would serve us when we were kids. Or, the occasional Good Samaritan walking by 😂.

Same as it’s always been - ask a stranger to do it, an older sibling or use fake ID.

I had an older friends ID, people I knew would ask adults to go into the shop for them.

Or we used to make up bottles with bits of whatever we could find in our parents alcohol cabinet. It wasn’t a good mix but very potent 🤢
