The dressing gown of doom is out…

Snot rags. Half cups of tea everywhere.

Oscar-worthy guttural sound effects.

We’re both home today. Solidarity?

He spent the day in bed yesterday.

Supplied Lemsips. Closed the door.

Now he’s up, shuffling & sniffling…

Oh God - it's the "I'm fine here" snoozing on the sofa that gets on my wick. Just go to bed!

MinnieMountain · 04/09/2026 11:59

Find an audio book/nice long podcast and wear headphones.

makeaplantpot · 04/09/2026 12:07

Go out and leave him to it. Leave him some lunch if feeling charitable.

Got him some ready-made soups.

He’s already eaten an entire loaf…

Send him outside and open all the windows. Strip the bed and put as much bedding outside on lines and racks. Fresh air on everything. Including dh.

TheChosenTwo · 04/09/2026 12:33

Are you working or not working?
if working, shut yourself in the office and tell him not to disturb you as you have Very Important Meetings. Or any other room of the house.
If not working and he’s shuffling about the house either go out yourself or tell him if he’s up and about then you’re going to hang out in the bedroom, shut the door and stay there. Maybe put a Keep Out sign on the door 😂

Whosthetabbynow · 04/09/2026 12:46

Oh jeez. How I hate this when it starts. The feeling of the forehead to check his own temperature. wtf? I daren’t ask how he is because he’ll tell me and enjoy it. The extra pandering and pampering. Once the dressing gown comes out I want to throw myself down the stairs. I feel for you OP

HelpMeGetThrough · 04/09/2026 13:23

I don’t have a dressing gown of doom.

I have the “Hoodie of Hypochondria”. I’m wearing it now and crashed on the settee.

Cotopaxi · 04/09/2026 13:32

Tell him you're not going to stay in the house with his horrid germs all day. Go out and leave him to his misery.

Not lost his appetite then.

He can't be too ill!

Bonkers1966 · 04/09/2026 13:36

So sorry OP. Any wine in for later?

Am WFH. He’s sloped back to bed.

wont take painkillers? The fool!!

I’ve just got 200 codeine and Oramorph from the chemist. I’m back on the settee and about to have a fantastically stoned afternoon on YouTube.

May even crack out a glass of wine later. 🤪🤪
