In home weirdness

Feel free to interpret weirdness in any way you like - things appearing and/or disappearing, unidentifiable noises, strange smells, the sobbing stranger sitting on the stairs, rooms which weren't there before, eek what's that behind you?!

Mine. It's not unknown to find illegible shopping items, in my handwriting written on the kitchen memo board. But I was alarmed to note I've seemingly written📧
AMMO

Pardon ?

Might be an idea to check your carbon monoxide detectors. I'm sure I read a story just like this before, with the strange notes in their own writing that they didn't remember making. Turned out that person was being slowly poisoned by carbon monoxide in their home.

Are the notes you find as unintelligible as this post?

LittleMonks11 · 03/09/2026 22:16

Whuh?

AllJoyAndNoFun · 03/09/2026 22:18

The door at the top of the stairs is always open in the morning even when I close it right before bed and 2 lots of visitors have said they heard horses neighing in the night.

I'll plug something into the wall, swear blind the switch is down, go to the appliance (say a vacuum) and try to turn it on and it won't go, I'll look at the wall socket and it's in off position. Why?

This reminds me an my old neighbour actually who turned a blind eye to the strange noises coming from her attic and thought it was central heating. Anyway, one day she had a look and the neighbours next door to her had a fall out and the husband was living in their shared loft space in just his underwear

Sorry if I was unclear, it was a bad attempt at humour.

My apparent writing of 'ammo' on our memo board made me laugh and the thread is supposed to be a light hearted 'what unexplained things have you found or have happened in your home'. Not necessarily woo things.

Famous true Reddit thread from 10 or so years ago!

Edit to add link and it's actually 12 years ago.

A murder happened on our first floor landing about ten feet from where I sleep, but all our mysterious disappearances, strange noises, cold spots and sobbing on the stairs are down to a disorganised teenager who likes making snacks at 3 am and borrows my shampoo, a creaky, draughty old house, and me losing the will to live going downstairs. Not a spook in sight.
