Last minute arrangement to meet young adult family member near Baker St/Marylebone tomorrow for tea/early dinner. I don’t know this area very well for eating out. Any suggestions please for somewhere to eat? They live in another city so have access to chains so thought it’d be nice to go somewhere different but not too fancy or expensive as we’ll only have two hours before they catch their return train.

Tofu Vegan 豆腐素食 - Vegan Chinese Restaurant 素食中餐馆 https://share.google/hpO3OPknL9ektgl3t I think some of these are in the right general area. I'm not vegan but the food was delicious and the restaurant we went to (the one near Gloucester Road) was friendly and not too expensive.

There's a Lina Stores around there. It's a chain but good food.

Ooh there’s a smashing place on the junction with Wigmore Street.

Phoenix Palace, a Chinese restaurant. If you want a reference, Hong Kong university have had reunion dinners there!

Cafe Murano, an Italian restaurant on Dorset Street. Good food and reasonably priced

Le relais de venise if you like steak and chips in unlimited supply. It’s an institution. Very French and always packed.

Fischers in Marylebone High Street is lovely

HeyPrune · 03/09/2026 20:04

Fischer's. Food is delicious, it is very pretty and the staff are wonderful.

MauriceTheMussel · 03/09/2026 20:06

Third who came on to say Fischers

Minasama · 03/09/2026 20:10

I love Fischers of Marylebone (1920s Vienna style) although it might be a bit more expensive than you were thinking?
Wiener Schnitzel, good fish etc.

Great, thanks, will look into these. Have been to Murano and loved it but might be too expensive for family member (I have a feeling they want to pay for me so prefer not too expensive).
