How much do you pay for a cleaner?

We’re in the market for a new cleaner after our wonderful cleaner of many years got a new job.

We were paying £15 an hour which was cheap and she did a brilliant job so she truly feels irreplaceable! Especially now I’ve started getting new quotes. This evening I’ve had two replying say they want £30 an hour, another saying they want £20 an hour but will be £80-£100 a week because it will take four - five hours to do everything I want doing (current cleaner does it in 2.5 hours a week!)

I knew £15 was cheap but this feels massively expensive and yet now seems the norm for our area.

For context, three bed house, very well maintained so no deep cleaning needed, cleaning products and equipment etc provided.

£20 sounds about right unless you’re near London.
Cleaning is a very physically demanding job and it’s unlikely that your house would be the cleaners’s only job on the day.
Products don’t make up a lot as most stuff goes a long way.
Perhaps you could find one locally if you put out a message on Facebook, some cleaners (desperate for money) may do it for less.
However this just shows what value you place on cleaners wrecking their joints in return for a shiny house.

We pay £22 an hour at a local company. Minimum hours are two.

£20 ph for very mediocre cleaning.

£17.50 per hour.

I clean someone’s house every Saturday morning and they pay me £25 an hour.

£18ph. We are London though and I think cleaning may be the one thing cheaper here due to supply of workforce. My in laws are semi-rural and pay £30ph because there just aren’t enough cleaners so competition to employ them pushes the price up
