Hey guys,
It’s back to school season and I’m just repeating a back to school PSA I’ve found very helpful.
I never posted my kids anywhere public, only my private facebook account. I feel like any sensible parent makes sure to hide the school logo, or the house number or any recognisable landmarks.
This is not enough. With modern AI, millions of images, from who knows where, are scraped from social media.
Videos and pics of horrendous stuff are being made from online photos of children. I know Elon Musk’s Grok, a public and widely used platform, has been used for this purpose.
This year, no back to school post from me. I’ve seen a lot of people joining me too.
For some of you, this might be painfully obvious. For those of us who still trusted privacy features (how naive I was), let’s put this out there.
DD back to school pics will be going on my fridge, and nowhere near social media.
