He died so is unable to defend himself or the article, why has this just come out now

There was a court order meaning that he was given anonymity & could not be named in media.

This was lifted following his death.

Agree, I don’t see that any good can come from naming him now.

I agree. All it does is make his family be attacked by the media in the future, they'll never be left alone. Whatever he did or didn't do doesn't mean his loved ones should have to suffer over it.

His appearance is totally irrelevant, surely.

BEAchDays2 · 03/09/2026 08:05

This is so weird, why would anyone care about him?

Yes we get that, whats the purpose of anyone knowing this?

RowsOfFlowers · 03/09/2026 08:07

Not really sure why it’s relevant to release this imho. Seems a bit unnecessary

Same as any of the other witnesses that were named.

More a question of why he managed to get granted anonymity in the first place when many of the others didn't.

Many staff applied for and were granted anonymity to protect themselves, now that he has died there is no need to name him, what benefit is there, his family will be hounded, his reputation scrutinised, he can't appear if there's a retrial or appeal, it's just the media looking for another gossip non story.

Westfacing · 03/09/2026 09:26

On what grounds were staff given anonymity?

Well, the judge apparently considered applications from his family for the anonymity requirement to remain, after the Daily Mail applied for it to be lifted, but ruled that the rationale for the man's remaining anonymous was largely gone after his death, and that keeping it would have contravened the right of the media to report on court proceedings.

I mean, I don't disagree with you that this is a tabloid looking to throw muck in a way that will make money rather than any principle of 'open justice'.

I think the judge made the wrong call. Whatever this man did or didn't do, his family have done nothing wrong and they don't deserve to be thrust into the media spotlight at this time.

itwasyourshowallalong · 03/09/2026 10:03

This is potentially another fuck up in a long line of other potential fuck ups…..

Completely agree this is the wrong call to release his details, his poor family 😔

Scotiasdarling · 03/09/2026 10:21

The trouble is, he died, and no one knows the circumstances of his death, fairly recently I think the day after he had been dismissed from his job for passing confidential medical details of one of the unfortunate babies to Letby.

While it is terrible for his family his name would have become public knowledge very quickly anyway. Every staff member who worked with him would know and someone would have inevitably told the press.

Sadly the hurt to his family was caused by his inappropriate relationship with Letby.

Tell that to the daily fail

I agree. His poor family are going to be going through enough at the moment without the added LL association.

I agree. His inappropriate relationship and his unprofessional conduct. Why should that be covered up. I am anticipating that it will be found he committed suicide. And that is on him. Obviously I feel for his family. But I am not sure that name protection orders were the right way to go for this trial.

MissMoneyFairy · 04/09/2026 11:02

Have the DM printed this in defense of LL or to further implicate her? He is dead, he had already been sacked, maybe he took his own life, what more are the DM actually hoping to achieve?
