Child benefit paid after my son left college, what should I do?

DS left college in June, he's 18. I got a letter from child benefit a couple of months ago saying the payments would stop automatically in August and I don't need to do anything. I've just logged on my online banking and they have paid again this month. What did you all do, did you inform them? I'm obviously going to phone them and pay it back, but don't want to get in trouble.

Were you paid today?

I'm the same and haven't contacted them because ds is going to uni but I wouldn't be paid until the 20th.

I'd put it aside, and wait to see if they ask for it back.

So i. have just googled too
Your enttlement is uptill the 31st of August which was yesterday and its paid on arrears
So surely this is the last payment?

Treetopbirds · 01/09/2026 11:48

Maybe I should wait and see if I get another payment in four weeks and contact them then if this is the case. I'll move it to another account to make sure it doesn't get spent.

Or you could just contact them and check, like you said in your original post!
