Things you did to help conceive?

I guess we never really know for sure but what things did you do to help prepare yourself for pregnancy and what did you do to give you the best chances of conceiving first time?

I really think a lot of it is just down to genetics and luck, unfortunately. That said, we've conceived both pregnancies first cycle so no idea if these helped:

  • both physically active, me less so this time with a then 16 month old (!) but definitely a healthy BMI, eat healthy diets. Neither of us drink even pre pregnant and breastfeeding or smoke etc.
  • I took folic acid & b12 for 3 months before TTC each time but I think that's more about the health of the baby once you do conceive
  • got my health sorted out, I have a thyroid problem and had to make sure it was managed well before TTC or it could be really risky. I was also told I had polycystic ovaries (but tested negative for PCOS twice) and was told before our first time TTC that we would qualify for early fertility help after a year instead of two as a result
  • the big one I think, just absolutely loads of sex in the fertile window 😂 as soon as my last period ended, we did at least every other day. I tracked my periods using an app, Flo this time and something else last time, they were more regular cycles this time. I didn't use ovulation tests or assume the app was necessarily correct. This time I think we did it 3 days in a row either leading up to or over the date the app estimated ovulation but still kept up every other day for most of the window. There was one bit where we didn't for 2 days I think and it didn't seem near ovulation. Also kept up every other day until I think 4 days after the app estimated ovulation just to cover all bases.

And yeah, currently 9+ weeks, feeling like absolute garbage.
