New laptop battery only lasting two hours after replacement

Had a new battery fitted to my laptop (year and a half old) last week. I assumed the laptop would now return to 'new' levels of charge (when new the laptop battery lasted about 6 hours). Now it's only lasting about 2 hours from full charge.

Any suggestions (beyond take it back AGAIN and ask the supplier to sort it out)?

Maybe the laptop is just old, or you have an application that’s using lots of power. I tend to think that once you get to new battery stage it is better to upgrade the laptop.

Is it the same Ah rating?

I was wondering this. But it is only a year and a half old. Although because I work on it, all day, every day, it might just be ageing faster than usual. Although my backup laptop, which I used before this one, used to get this hammering and held up longer.
