i can't think of many/any but I do like christine bleakley but I don't think she's got NT status.

Judi Dench I like. She doesn't take herself seriously.
Tom Hanks - not sure if he can get NT status seeing as he's not British.
Stacey Dooley

David Attenborough of course.

BirdLandedonmyHead · 31/08/2026 18:10

I would trust David Attenborough if he was to present an announcent on an alien invasion tonight.

Markovenchip · 31/08/2026 18:13

Simon Weston (and all who serve, past, present, and future are national treasures to me), Judi Dench, Michael Crawford, Mary Berry, the King and Queen 👑, though not David Attenborough, I went off him when he derogatory about Brexit voters.,...🙂

Piggywaspushed · 31/08/2026 18:13

sweatervest · 31/08/2026 18:19

Is Sue Perkins a National Treasure? I like her.

What about the guy who does the travel programmes, Simon something?

What is a National Treasure?

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 31/08/2026 18:23

Michael Crawford if he is a NT.

Yes!

Openmouthinsertfood · 31/08/2026 18:28

I know David Jason came up on the other thread but I think he's sweet. Never heard a bad word about him either?

sweatervest · 31/08/2026 18:31

oooh just thought of one. Sue Johnson.

Agree with Simon Weston. JKR of course. The late Victoria Wood. Michael Palin. Timothy Spall. Timothy West. Judi Dench. Kelly Holmes.

And an honorary mention for Michel Roux.

cariadlet · 31/08/2026 18:34

Definitely David Attenborough. I was really surprised how many people on the other thread disliked him.

Judi Dench.

My mind went blank after this so I googled. I either dislike or am neutral about the others who made the YouGov list.

David Attenborough tops list of UK national treasures

Women and younger Britons more likely to nominate him

Good call! I really like her. Does Sarah Lancashire count? Not sure if she's old enough to be a NT but I'd add her to the list.

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 31/08/2026 18:37

Oh I'll have Sue Johnson and Sarah Lancashire as well. If they're not then they should be.

Greyover · 31/08/2026 18:41

I'll be adding Sue Johnston to my list too

sweatervest · 31/08/2026 18:42

ooooooooooooooooooooooh sarah lancashire!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! EXCELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLENT SHOUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the utter queen of all things NT. I heart her. Also when she got an award for happy valley and she said "i'd like to thank nicola walker and she wasn't even in it".

Can John Craven be added to our list ?

John Craven's Newsround was SUCH a revolutionary idea when it started, and it used to present the news to children in such an excellent, clear, but non- patronising way. I know he has moved on to other things, but that is where he gets his national treasure status from IMO

sweatervest · 31/08/2026 18:50

definitely the big jc. (john craven, not jesus christ)

i'm throwing barry took in too (figuratively)

Definitely!

I like him on Country File but grew up with John Craven's Newsround. This made me think about how children's tv presenters seemed to go from friendly uncle/aunty types to big brother/sister types (of course, that could just be me getting old).

From there, my mind went to the lovely Brian Cant. I'll add him to my list of NTs I love.

Backfrombright · 31/08/2026 18:57

Palin
Graham Norton

GossipQueen41 · 31/08/2026 19:14

The late Dame Patricia Routledge!
