Are the random checks from the handset really random?

I’ve been to three different asdas over last three days and had random check in each one!

Maybe the purchase of a specific product triggers it? I know people try it on with the loose fruit & veg and weigh stuff as a cheaper item.

I don’t work in Asda, in my store they are random but certain things will trigger a check. Adding and removing products, failing a check, a large spend and certain items will generate a check.

The very definition of random means that sometimes someone would get picked repeatedly. If that never happened, it's not random.

I have a Tesco Club card and find that trolley checks come in spates. I seem to get stopped numerous times in a short period then won't get stopped for months.

Thanks all for the replies, I’m just feeling a bit self conscious I suppose!

Yes us too, we do.a months shop.and for 3/4shops we will be checked then nothing, it is almost the same stuff we have.

It’s going back a while but when I worked at one it was indeed totally random. But if it was wrong in any way, not necessarily in a stealing kind of way but misidentifying your baguette for example, you’d be rescanned at every future visit until it tallied properly.

My husband always gets pulled out for a random check at the airport. It really can’t be random.
