How do I meet new people/friends

I’m socially awkward. I am highly self judgmental and often feel I am not good enough to be friends with people etc. but I want to change that!
I am a single mum.
I have a new job working part time hours and I am moving to a new area. My kids are quite young so I don’t get much “me time” at all. My only social life of around extended family.
I would love to have friends and go to classes etc, it is just very hard with my children being so young (6&3).

I feel quite isolated and very much of a loner recently. I have withdrawn from social media as it just doesn’t sit right with me. Everyone seems so fake and only posts the good stuff so makes me feel even worse!
any tips please? :-)

I forgot to mention -

people these days are very much into drama/social media like it is the be all and end all and very much glued to their phones. I can be too but I’m looking to come away from that hence coming off social media and not wanting this type of mentality around the people I engage with. Perhaps I’m asking too much

I’d make a start by booking some classes you love and see where it leads , you’ll be with people with the same interests and that’s a good start . I would also use it to get more confidence socially . To make friends you have to be open , chatty etc and have the time .

Could you book activities you and the children can do together to meet people that way, horse riding, karate, park run? Or could you volunteer at a club they attend, brownies, or football coach. If you do not have much free time that may be a good option. When you have free time could you try a regular fitness class so you see the same faces, or attend a course?
