Found a strange bone-like thing in the garden, any ideas?

This might be more suited for Sporners Corner tbh. It's not the trimester thing ever though. I found this weird bone thing in the back garden. We haven't got a dog. Does anyone know what it is? Maybe a big bird dropped it. It looks like it's got claws ffs!

How big is it? It looks like a clump of barnacles. Mins normally had air plants living in it.

Yes it’s barnacles - Someone’s brought a memento back from the beach!

Its barnacles someone threw in the garden for whatever reason.

Looks like something marine based - a gull or similar could have dropped it

I've just had some pea-shingle delivered for a garden project. In spreading it, I've found quite a few seashells and shell fragments - might it be from an old delivery of similar at some point in the past? Nothing like barnacles in min, but there could potentially be in a quantity of larger stones.

Agree, old barnacles. They are made of calcium deposits.

Possibly it was once part of a rockery? Have you had soil/wood chips delivered on a lorry? One load we found all sorts mixed in- pegs, rocks, strips of plastic, glass!

Depending on the size, maybe a bird dropped it? Its unlikely its from the days when the UK was under the sea though.

We're in a new-build and it's possible it was in the rubble they dumped in the garden but it would have to have been dug up and there's no sign of anything digging. We haven't had anything delivered. It was right by the fence which makes me think the kid next door might have dropped it over. A nice little present if you will. Beats the shit their cat usually leaves us anyway. There's one there now which I haven't cleaned away yet and it should be going straight back over the fence for them seeing as they obviously have no problem with their cat doing it's business in everyone's gardens.

I think it might be part of a wasps’ nest. If it’s very light and papery.

Just realised in my op I put 'trimester'. I can't remember what it was that I was supposed to put now but it certainly wasn't that!
